What is the difference between Nelson's Illustrated Manners and Customs of the Bible by Packer, Tenney, & White and Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Manners & Customs by Howard Vos.
The former is more a Bible Handbook than manners and customs. It has a lot of history, an abridged bible dictionary and many b/w illustrations. The title is somewhat misleading in my view, and could be simply called a bible handbook, like for example Halley's.
The latter is subtitled "How the People of the Bible Really Lived" and is a typical "manners and customs" book, beginning with life in the time of Abraham. It's much better in my opinion.
Thanks for this info. The latter is what I need for my study of the times of the NT.
