Why does this program constantly get less and less useful? (Search issue)
So, I did what I've done hundreds or thousands of times in the past...typed in a search phrase with quotes around it, because I want hits EXACTLY like what I typed in the quotes. I get...
Notice that NONE of the "Search Templates" which I am offered to select from constitutes what I typed into the search bar. It used to be that I could type "happy place" and get a listing of every place where the exact phrase "happy place" occurred in my library, which made me happy. Now, all I get is the last thing I want to see in my library--the dreaded "Factbook"--and a list of every possible search option EXCEPT the one that is specifically meant by what I typed into the search bar.
This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I attempt to use Logos for the last 3-4 years. Within 2-5 minutes, or as in this case, 2-5 seconds, I immediately hit a brick wall and have to troubleshoot software instead of accomplishing the task I set out to perform.

Are you sure you have anything with that phrase?
I get one hit from Credo 9.4., (Hart’s biblical case) before Factbook takes over.
I get plenty of hits for my "happy place"0 -

Works for me because I searched my books rather than using the "all search" which is designed for newbies and users with very small libraries so it defaults to rather broad searches.
If it happens once, I would answer the "why" with user ignorance of the difference between an "all" search and a search of one's library, a "books" search. If it happens consistently over a period of years ... I wouldn't answer on public forums. [:#]

How do I search my notes? I used to get results that mentioned hits from my notes, but I'm not seeing that anymore.

I'm not sure...I got the phrase from somewhere, and I think I included it in one of my notes. It was used to describe the idea of "imputed righteousness"--the idea being that we are declared righteous even though we actually aren't. It may not have been sourced from a Logos book. Perhaps it came from a website. Would like to be able to search my notes for it.

One thing I find helpful to search my notes is to use the "Docs".
1. Start "Search"
2. In the Search Heading, click on "Docs"
3. Type in the "search box" what your looking for and press enter.
When I do this, I generally find it when it is one of my notes.
Begining with Logos version 10... they have improved Search a lot, and there are rumors of a new Search that is coming that is supposed to be better yet. As far as Search in L10 goes... While it is better than L9, I think it can be improved upon. I believe Mark Barnes is working on a new Search. Rumor has it that we may have 2 Searches.... I hope not. I sometimes get confused now as to which menu item to use as it is. [:(]

Yeah, just tried that...got nothing back for "holy fiction". So, deleted "fiction", ran the search...got nothing back. So, with notes numbering somewhere in five figures, I apparently don't have a single one with the word "holy" in it.

Seems that may be a possibility???

Using something that exists in my notes, I change to a Documents search (may be hidden under more depending on the width of your panel) ...
Secret: I used the old "all search" rather than multiple searches in cases like this but in beta I was clearly a lone voice.
