Nero's Theater Found

Probably it's in your favorite newspaper. If not:

Apparently Nero was an acting buff, including theater productions. The discovery included costumes, etc, though possibly from a later period.

But if you were lucky to pick up Pliny's Natural History (just a minor $100 in Logos), you'd read about the theater at 37.19. Apparently Pliny didn't survive Pompei.

It doesn't say the discovery included costumes, but just a building where perhaps sets and costumes were housed.

Roman special superintendent Daniela Porro said the site includes remnants of marble columns, golden decorations, costumes, musical instruments, and backdrops from the theater’s heyday. (WNG.org).

I guess we'll find out with dust settling.
