Apparently Nero was an acting buff, including theater productions. The discovery included costumes, etc, though possibly from a later period.
But if you were lucky to pick up Pliny's Natural History (just a minor $100 in Logos), you'd read about the theater at 37.19. Apparently Pliny didn't survive Pompei.
