How do I search for "Jesus" but not any other person
Hi I have logos 10 core, and I'm trying to search only for the word "Jesus", the person Jesus, but not all references (like pronouns).
How do I do that?
Thanks (I tried to search for this but couldn't find my exact question).
Jesus was born of a VIRGIN, as it is written in the LXX, testified in the NT Matthew 1:23
Isaiah 7:14 (Brenton LXX En)

Just making sure I understand.
Do you mean just where the text Jesus appears or do you also want referents such as Messiah in Matthew 1:18?

Just where the text "Jesus" is, but also only referring to Jesus the Messiah, not bar-Jesus, or Justus who is called Jesus.

Try this
Jesus INTERSECTS person:Jesus

It didn't catch all the references to Jesus. Missed about 85 I think?

It would be interesting to have some examples of those that were missing
The search should have found all places where the surface text Jesus was tagged with the person of Jesus.
So it wouldn't find Christ for example.

This is an interesting implication of the way Logos has done its tagging
The KJV in which you are searching has Scrivener's Textus Receptus as the basis for its interlinear. This contains the word Jesus in Matthew 4:12 (your first example) - the blue arrow in the screenshot below
But Logos has used for its tagging a different Greek text (I believe the SBLGNT) which doesn't have the word Jesus (the ESV uses that text for its interlinear so demonstrates the point - see the red arrow)
So the reason for these verses not being found is that the tag person:Jesus hasn't been applied to that word as, in the text used for tagging the word Jesus doesn't appear.
Which I appreciate leaves a problem if you want to use the KJV and rely on tagging as it might not be present where you expect it to be.

Ok so it's basically not possible then because the background manuscripts are different?

This is very interesting! Kind of brings out what I was looking for too because I wanted to know where the name (text) "Jesus" appeared in English but also in Greek too, since that is the original. Now, I have to look at the SBLGNT to see that the name Jesus is only implied in the pronoun.
Thanks, I'll be thinking about this to see if I have any more questions, because I'm not sure what results I want! Maybe both?

That’s right - it would work better in something like the ESV as the Greek manuscript and interlinear are aligned
