Capitalization problem in Notes tool
I've been having a recurring problem with capitalization in Notes for the past couple of weeks. I use MS SwiftKey, and it's fine for a few words, then suddenly begins capitalizing every letter and not recognizing input words (no auto-suggestions). I have to turn capitalization off for each and every letter, making notes nearly impossible to use.
I tried using the Samsung keyboard instead, and it was better but still capitalized the first letter of every word, and it doesn't happen in any other apps, so it seems to be a Logos problem. This happens only on my Galaxy S23 Ultra phone, not my Samsung Galaxy Tab Lite 6, though I also use SwiftKey there.
Since I'm writing, the SwiftKey arrows don't work in Logos, either, but again only on the phone - they work on my tablet.
Anyone else having this capitalization problem?

I tried my SwiftKey just now on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 in Notes, and it's fine. Can't help other than that, still on the S9+ 😊

Yes - it's okay on my Tab 6 Lite too. Problem only on S23 Ultra phone.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S10e and the default Samsung keyboard. Only in the past two weeks, the notes insists on capitalizing every word. Never used to do that and I've taken hundreds of notes prior with no issues. Something changed.

Oh, good - I'm not the only one! What's happening to you with the default Samsung one is exactly what's happening to me. And then I have the even bigger problem with SwiftKey. For me also, it's been only in about the last 2 weeks.

We have a case created to look into this issue on our end, however, SwiftKey has had auto-caps lock issues in the past that have been on their end. We will be sure to update you when we have more information on this. Thank you for your patience!

Thank you, Ali. And to be clear, I am not using SwiftKey. I added to this post because I could relate to Kathy's additional experience she noted with the Samsung standard keyboard.

Thank you for the clarification, Bob. I've noted that in the case.

Ali, the text in the third paragraph below just happened in my Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite using an external physical keyboard, not SwiftKey or the built-in Samsung keyboard. So the problem is wider.
The lower case letters occur because I pressed shift to capitalize the first letter of each of the first three words. It then gave lower case to the second letter and reverted back to upper case for the rest of the letters in the entire note.
My text using physical keyboard:

Also, are you able to edit the title of this thread to remove SwiftKey, now that we've eliminated it as the sole problem?

We are investigating this further. Do you see this issue when using your standard keyboard on any other non-Logos apps?

Ali, to be clear, my last post--with the sample text copied and pasted from Logos--was typed on an external *physical* keyboard, not on the standard Samsung pop-up keyboard on my tablet. However, the answer to your question for all keyboards is no--I only have that problem in Logos, both on my phone and on my tablet, and it occurs when using both the standard Samsung keyboard and the SwiftKey keyboard on the phone. I've used only the physical keyboard lately with my tablet, so I can't speak to SwiftKey or the standard Samsung keyboard on it.

Capitalization in Notes works fine on the desktop application. I have only experienced the problem in the Mobile app on my Samsung Galaxy S10e phone.

Same here as what Bob posted--no problem in the desktop app. Having done IT work, let me summarize for troubleshooting purposes:
- The problem is upper case becoming locked in Notes in the Logos Android mobile app. Clicking shift does not resolve it, though it sometimes makes the second letter in a word lower case (normal behavior) before returning to locked upper case.
- It is intermittent--it doesn't happen all the time, it sometimes begins after other notes have been created in a session, and it sometimes goes away during the same session after opening a new note.
- It's been reported here in two different mobile phone models and one tablet, all Samsung products.
- It's been reported here in three different keyboards--the SwiftKey and Samsung on-screen keyboards and one external, physical Samsung keyboard.
HTH!

Ali, is there any progress on this issue? It's still happening. At church yesterday, I had to give up entering sermon notes. The only device where I can functionally enter notes on a consistent basis is a computer, which isn't practical in a public setting. It's a pretty big feature to be inoperable on my mobile devices.

This should be fixed in the latest beta (27.0.0.0035) that was released on Friday, July 28, 2023. It will ship to the stable app in a few days.
