I am running on a fully updated Windows 11 Pro system (22H2). Yesterday, Logos 27.2 worked. Today, it does not. It starts to open and then crashes. I tried repairing the installation, but that did not help.

I get two errors in Event Viewer:

Try opening to a blank layout. Press and hold the control key immediately upon startup

Yes, that worked. But after rebuilding my layout, the application still would not open normally. A repair installation did not work. So, I uninstalled, reinstalled, downloaded 7.4 GB of resources, and reindexed. Now, it is working again. But I don't understand what caused the corruption in the first place.

Update: I rebooted, and Logos will no longer open from a recent layout. But if I change the Program Settings to open with a blank layout or with Home, it opens OK. It is only when it tries to open a recent layout that it crashes. The error log files are attached.

It seems to be connected with  LLS:NRSVUE:

    2023-08-10 00:24:55.9993  INFO 37 NotesToolUserVisualFilterProvider | Got 0 notes markups for LLS:NRSVUE 0:2147483647. (407ms)
    2023-08-10 00:24:56.5350 ERROR 37 LogosDesktopApiClient | FindReverseInterlinearProductAsync
ServiceException: No RVI product found (NotFound)

So try opening NRSVUE in a blank layout (with other RI's) and rebuild the layout if that works.

If I start Logos while holding down the Ctrl key, Logos opens just fine and I can manually load the default layout that I have saved. If I try to automatically open the default layout on start-up, Logos crashes.

I have done a complete fresh reinstall of Logos (it took hours). It worked OK for two days and then the problem started again. I have done a quick fix, where I save the Data, Documents, and User folders, reinstall the system files, then restore the saved folders. This too solves the problem for a couple of days. Then the problem recurs.

The error regarding NRSVUE makes sense, since Logos has not issued a reverse interlinear yet. But I had the exact same layout with version 26 of Logos, and it caused no problem.

So at this point, I am stuck with starting with a blank layout until Logos comes up with a solution. I hope it is soon!

Thanks to everyone who has helped!

    Same here, Darren.

Under Program Settings, I've set: At Startup Open To: Blank Layout.

It loads a blank layout. I can then load the layout I want.
As you say, that's a workaround, not really a solution.

I was also experiencing this problem on the previous version of Logos (27.1).

RI's do exist for NRSVUE if you have L10 Silver Features or higher (or a subscription). Do you see the Interlinear icon when it is loaded from a blank layout?
