27.2 (27.2.21) is now available
The Logos Bible Software desktop application version 27.2 is now available to all users.
To immediately update to the current stable version, enter Update Now into the command box. Otherwise, the app will automatically update the next time it is scheduled to check for updates.

Hi Savanna, I seem stuck on 27.0.14. I am on the beta channel. I have closed the app and restarted it, typed in update command still no love.

The SR releases don't get published to the beta channel because, usually, an SR release would be a downgrade for people on the beta channel. But the fixes in this SR will also get merged into the beta version of the app, so you'd get these fixes early once the v28 beta cycle launches.

If the release version is later than the latest on the beta channel (as this one is), I just do a "Set Update Channel to Default" and download the new version. You can then do "Set Update Channel to beta" to be ready for Beta 1, or wait and do it when Beta 1 is announced. This was actually the second SR release on v27, I stayed on the Default channel - so I'll go to beta when announced. YMMV.

Mark - I understand about SR's & Beta Channel. However, I was confused by this situation... I <think> I now understand, but for clarification: Are all "point" releases SR's?

A "point" release is a Service Release (retaining the the same version number). Beta releases have an updated version (28 will be the next one and it will eventually be released to "stable" channel as 28.0).

I have installed Logos 27.2 and now it will not open at all. I have reinstalled several times and it will not open on my Windows 10. Any recommendations on this new version.

Several of us are in the same situation. For now, hold down the Ctrl key when opening Logos till the sign-in window appears. Sign-in. Change the start-up behavior in Program Setting to open a blank layout. Create your default layout, and save it. Till this bug is fixed, you will have to manually open your default layout each time Logos starts.

Is there a different way to open this on a Mac? I have the same issue and tried opening while holding control and still crashes.

For Macs, use the Command key instead of the Ctrl key.

I've tried that it still crashes...

That's the workaround I'm using too.

This issue started today (8/17/2023) for me, and it worked just fine last night. I tried updating Logos, and it says it's up to date. I tried repairing Logos, and that did not work. I updated all of my software on my laptop using my Dell utility, and that did not work. After starting the desktop app, I see the synchronization pop-up, then a blank white screen, then I go right back to my desktop. The application manager does not show Logos running. The only workaround that I found is the one mentioned by Darren Miner: use the CTRL key when opening, sign in, go to a blank layout, and open my document each time Logos starts. Any information on this glitch and when Faithlife might fix it? I hope sooner than later, as Sunday is coming!

I'm also using a Dell laptop (G7). I'm sure Logos will be looking for what is common for those of us who have this problem.

Others change Startup preference to a "Blank layout" in Program Settings to avoid using the CTRL key.

I was able to get in contact with Logos tech support, who asked for my logs. Based on that review, they were able to provide instructions for me to move three program folders to my desktop, then uninstall and re-install the latest Logos version, then move those three folders back into the directory. It solved my issue and I’m back to running normally.

I have followed that exact procedure twice now. And each time, after a couple of days, the issue recurred. We need a real fix, folks!

I'm also not able to get Logos opened now. It keeps hanging on the startup logo. Any suggestions? I tried holding Ctrl while opening the program, but it does the same thing.

Hi Jordan - here are the instructions that Logos Tech Support sent me, which worked. Hope they work for you. It might be worth you getting on an online chat with them during their business hours via their website--was a pretty painless process.
Please read the full article first before starting to follow the steps. Once you finish with them, try to open Logos without a blank layout.0 -
Thanks, James. That seemed to fix it.
I don't understand why this keeps happening with Logos. No other program has these issues when updating. Why does it keep repeating with Logos? Can't they fix it?
