Suggestion: A Not-Advanced Timeline Tool

I put this in 'General' since it would violate Faithlife's 'make it difficult' policy (www.logos.com/Policies/Planning_Principles - don't click on that).

Today, I was reading along, and couldn't remember exactly when Hadrian ruled. I clicked on my Accordance, typed in Hadrian and it showed me. Along with the other key events of the period. Done. Great job, Accordance!

I didn't click on the Logos 'Advanced Timeline'. If I type in Hadrian, I get everything but the kitchen sink. I don't want everything. I just want a basic timeline, key events, normal groupings, and just like for the last few decades (centuries?!) in Bibles, etc.

OK, back to difficult.

Added: I suspect Logos also needs a Not-Advanced Atlas tool too! Like you use in Bible class.

I suspect that Logos expects one to use the almanac feature a.k.a. Factbook rather than the encyclopedia timeline for this.

Ignoring my enjoyable out-of-context quote, I tried Factbook out. First I had to pick the right Hadrian (violating the not-advanced-idea). Then scan down for the desired info .. which for me, with only 6K/$50K library (a mere pittance) didn't indicate when Hadrian was emperor'ing. Luckily I knew when he built the temple to Jupiter.

But (apologies), they really either need to get serious about their tagging, or allow their software to do what it already can do. Factbook said I had nothing in my 800 journals (for which which there's 360 articles mentioning Hadrian, and 4 titled by Hadrian). To the unwashed, it doesn't appear well designed.

The other area I get tired of, is in the right-click menu, it doesn't offer a Factbook choice even if Factbook knows about it, since the resource isn't tagged (not that I'd admit wanting to see the Factbook!). And while we're tagging the right-click menu, not being allowed to copy a lemma (example) in 'Bible' software is obnoxious.

ADDED: Ok, still on the Factbook trail (sorry). On Factbook,I selected 'Search for Emperor Hadrian', I tried it out. Right there at the top, was a Factbook card showing the information for Hadrian. Why someone might ask? The reason is that Hadrian (person) is not the same as Hadrian (male)!

I don't understand their design. It really is meant to 'deliver difficult' (their motto).

Congratulations. You understand the current implementation completely. I have been promised that within a couple of weeks there will be an update undoing some erroneous merging that resulted in heading/indexing hash. Unfortunately for Logos, I am a great believer in solid data design before reiterative development. I hit that problem yesterday when problematic results were brushed off as "false positives" ... a full section of false positives ...

I once worked at a place where this was called 'send and listen' by staff. Mgt had it all justified in their minds as legit.
