Logos mobile app keeps crashing for apple devices
Logos Bible app keeps crashing when updating existing resources. This causes that the app to only work when it is not connected to the internet. When the app is „hanging“, it causes that other apps become non-functional. Issues are caused by app not using memory optimal. This problem has been there for ages; either logos is ignoring it or do not know how to fix it.

- Can you tell what the 3 problem resources are?
- If so, on your desktop (don't know if you have one), can you hide the 3, just to test?
- And/or can you tell how many were successfully downloaded before the problem (approximately)?
- Can you tell what the 3 problem resources are? Any resources - you download 3 and crash, then you try the next three - it does the same.

My solution is to use the ipad app for reading only.
Mine has consistently crashed and reloading books is a lot of time invested to only have another crash and the recommended fix is to delete and reinstall.
When the app worked it was much better than the previous one...but crashing makes the ipad Logos pretty much worthless to me.
After waiting more than three months in anticipation for this fix as promised to be applied in the latest version 30 update and with this new release having caused the app to now constantly crashing when trying to read any resource, I’m not sure how logos technical team develop and test these fixes. As stated previously, I frankly have lost interest in this app and found a tool elsewhere to do my daily readings.

Is anyone else having difficulty launching the Logos iOS app after the latest update? (30.0.0 (50)). I can’t launch it on either my iPhone 13 or my iPad Pro. The previous versions all worked for me. Now, I just get the splash screen and then it crashes. I’ve tried rebooting my devices without any effect, and I’m trying to hold off deleting the app because it means I have re-download the resources that I want on my devices. Any suggestions?

Rich, Please accept my apologies. We are working on this issue, which is different than the issue mentioned earlier in this thread.
It has not been fixed in the new update that went live today (30.0.1), but we continue to work towards a solution
One possible way to get around this in the meantime is to simply use the web app instead of our iOS app.
We believe that in at least some cases, this problem can be avoided by disabling your VPN or Network Proxy, or by using the app offline. I only suggest this as a temporary workaround.
Hi Joe,
I was having the same problem as RichB but I decided to delete the app to try and fix it. Now my app is hanging up on trying to sign in. It just spins and spins.
This is the first issue I’ve had with the iPa app, and no current problems on my iPhone.
Looking forward to a solution. I appreciate the work you guys put into this app, I love it and use it daily.

I recently upgraded to the latest iPad Pro with the AI chip and the problem with the download of the resources still remains. It has downloaded my resources up to a point and I cannot proceed with any further downloads. As I have purchased a 2TB drive the disc space is sufficient to store 100 times my logos resources. It tries to download three resources and it keeps crashing. I even tried the “rebuild index” option with no improvement. Logos for apple does have a bug since inception of the launch of the logos mobile app and after all these years could not manage to resolve the issue. Very unprofessional and this represents the quality of the software they put out there.
Diederick, you're understandably frustrated.
But reading your latest:

Hallo DMB? It seems that your profile is private?
However, below some inline comments:
Just additional information for thinking your problem through. What limitations are there on your internet connection? Do you live in a country where the government may control Christian resource access?
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
I have a Fibre - 75 Mbps connection. Currently residing in South Africa - not aware of any restrictions on Christian resources. I do believe the issue experienced is software related. My concern is that with the latest and fastest device that I have acquired, the issue still remains (details covered as part of the history of this log. Either logos software development team do not have a solution, or they treat it as not important.
I do believe that if you purchase resources, you should at least be able to download it to your devices - that is a basic and standard function of all resource related app functions. As mentioned previously, I have a 2TB hard drive iPad Pro with the AI chip technology. The hardware is fully capable, the logos software is problematic. This issue has been raised many times over the years and still logos software development team is ignoring it. Normally client's that use software houses move on to a different software house or replace their software architecture with something modern that can do the trick.
Like you I have an iPad Pro with M-class chip (my storage space is not as large as yours)
I've just tried downloading four books at random - one after the other - and they all downloaded without any problem and the app continued to function.
How are you triggering the download? Are you, for example, selecting a number of resources and trying to download them at the same time?
I'm trying to see if I can identify any differences between what you are doing and what I am doing to see if that has any bearing on the problem you are seeing.
When I download resources on my iPad it shows that the resources were downloaded, but when I select the options of "Not downloaded" and "digital library" it still appears. When you download via the iPad it crashes after the third download and normally the first two will be downloaded and the last one you need to be removed and downloaded it again. Now this is happening with all the resources, and I cannot download any new resources to my physical drive. I normally select 10 resources to be downloaded simultaneously.

I'm afraid I really don't understand why you are getting the problems you are.
I've just selected 10 resources on my iPad and downloaded them - it worked fine and they appeared correctly when I used filters. And I was able to "undownload" resources as well.
So for this to happen for you on different iPads seems very strange - I'm afraid I can't think of any reason why this is happening. Which I know isn't much help!
Sorry, Graham
I'm sorry to hear of your problem.
Which mobile device are you using and which version of operating system and app?
And what indication do you have that Logos is updating existing resources? In my experience, this tends to go on in the background and I'm not really aware of it
I am using an iPad Pro device with the latest OS update and latest version of logos mobile. When updates are occurring on my desktop version and I open my mobile device, the issue is happening. When I switched off the internet, I can manage to open the software without crashing. It seems that the problem is on logos servers. When accessing content to update on the servers, it crashes. This also happens when downloading new resources. The problem is not device specific as it happens on all my devices.
I have posting the issue on the ratings in the mobile app store, but my messages are been deleted as soon as I post them.

Thanks for that further information.
Roughly what proportion of your resources would you say you have downloaded to your iPad?
And I expect someone from Logos would like to see logs - hopefully they will comment here.
I have only downloaded half of my resources to my iPad device. This is frustrating as I cannot access resources in offline mode due to the crashes. I have send many logs to logos with no resolution.
