27.3 (27.3.26) is now available
The Logos Bible Software desktop application version 27.3 is now available to all users.
To immediately update to the current stable version, enter Update Now into the command box. Otherwise, the app will automatically update the next time it is scheduled to check for updates.

Is this different from Logos 10? Could you please provide the different features for this version and logos 10?

No. Logos 10 is the library package--the collection of resources and features you upgraded to. Ver. 27.3 etc. is the software engine update.
(They thought it would be less confusing to give them two different numbers.)

Sean,
Where does it show me on my desktop app saying it is logos 10?
Thanks.

The others have answered your questions (I think), but for clarification: The software engine has always been free (although users not making a new purchase had to wait a couple months to get the new engine), but users were often confused and did not update the software if they didn't make a new purchase. For example, if someone had purchased an L9 package and decided not to purchase an L10 package, they would often not update their software to the L10 engine... although they should have. To remedy this issue, Logos has disassociated the software engine nomenclature from the Library packages. The software version numbers will rapidly increase (about every 6 weeks a new number will be used).
All users should be using engine 27.3 unless their computer is incapable of running it.

I installed the update accidentally. I thought I was just updating resources but it updated the program too.
Is there no option to download and/or update resources without updating the program version?
I like to wait and see if others have problems with a new version before I install it ...

Automatic program updating can be turned off (disabled) by using command:
Set Update Channel to Manuel
Manuel update can be done by using current stable installer:
- Logos => https://www.logos.com/install
- Verbum => https://verbum.com/install
The other way to update program is using command to turn on automatic updating:
Set Update Channel to Stable
After program update is done, can run command to disable automatic program updating.

I think those command line options are nice for beta testers and developers. But why should I have to use them?
And even if I did that, I am not sure it would not do the same thing the next time I click to install resource updates.
I had this configured to not "Automatically Start Downloads". But this does not distinguish between program or resource updates. Does this apply to program updates? or Resource updates? or Both?
Then there is a "Download new Books" option. Does the word "Books" include the Datasets that it also updated? If not, why does it specify only Books? If this is set to YES while "Automatically Start Downloads" is NO, is it going to override it and install new resources automatically?
Library window status told me there were resource updates. I clicked to update them. And along with them the program was updated.
This is all about as clear as mud. I think somebody in interface design should have another look at this.
This may look familiar to some of you ... it is the Windows Update settings:
This is an example of a well thought out program logic. It gives the user absolute control, but is really very simple.
There is only one drop down selector, only one variable, and only 4 possible options. Most importantly, there is no ambiguity here as to what will happen with each option.

Suggestions are best put in the Suggestions forum and more formally on the feedback site Roadmap | Logos where they ger prioritized by users and Logos.

You are able to use or ignore any command, but beta testing demands that you be aware of some commands, together with their limitations.

"Download New Books" does not include datasets. If this is set to YES while "Automatically Start Downloads" is NO, new books are put into 'cloud resources' (Not on this device) until you are ready to download them (from your notification). They are visible because you would be expecting them after placing an Order.
This may look familiar to some of you ... it is the Windows Update settings:
- Install and Download (#1and #2 Windows) are covered by your choices for "Download New Books" and "Automatically Start Downloads", and you can stop program/software updates with Set Update Channel to Manual.
- Check for updates (#3 Windows) is done automatically in Logos, and downloading/installing is covered by point #1 above.
- You can manually check for Updates with the command "Update Now".
- Never check for updates (#4 Windows) is N/A to Logos.

Thanks for the reply Dave. When the update of the program occurred, It was downloading Resource updates, not new books. It also said it updated several Datasets and help files.
1. Install and Download (#1and #2 Windows) are covered by your choices for "Download New Books" and "Automatically Start Downloads", and you can stop program/software updates with Set Update Channel to Manual.
If I understand correctly now, the "Download New Books" setting only applies to newly purchased books, and also owned books that have never been installed on this device.
If that is correct, then "Automatically Start Downloads" set to YES gets overridden by a NO on "Download New Books" and new books are never downloaded. But everything else is still downloaded: Book, Dataset, and program updates.
If they are both set to NO, updates can be initiated on the Library screen, but it follows the same logic. *Everything is updated (but new books are not downloaded).*Unless behavior is modified by command line arguments?
Never check for updates (#4 Windows) is N/A to Logos.
Which leads to the final question ... if the setting "Use Internet" = NO does not prevent Logos from accessing the Internet to check for updates ... then what exactly does it do?

Yes I know you are right. I haven't done that yet as I am still learning the program. Maybe I will get over there at some point [:)]

Don,
I am having free version of Logs which is not Logos 10, I think.
This is using the latest version of the engine - and is based on what was shipped when Logos 10 was released.
So you don’t have a Logos 10 package or feature set but you have the same core software engine that all “Logos 10 based” implementations are using.

Currently GUI program settings do not have an option for disabling (or delaying) stable version updates when updating resources.
And even if I did that, I am not sure it would not do the same thing the next time I click to install resource updates.
Years ago my personal devices had a 2013 macBook Air that was used by myself & my spouse, who had individual Logos libraries. To conserve SSD space, Logos was installed in the Applications folder (by an administrative user). To avoid non-administrator update of the Logos application, the command Set Update Channel to Manuel was used in each Logos installation. Periodically administrative user downloaded & updated Logos application to the latest stable release. Resources & datasets in each Logos installation updated automatically (even when the Logos application was a version or two out of date).

"only applies" means exactly that, John. Owned books that have never been installed are downloaded/installed when you right-click and select "Download" on the books in Library (or you can do it from the Information pane). The idea of Devices > Not on this Device is so that you can see books in that category and download them if needed.
If you say "Download New Books" = NO, you will have to manually download them from Devices > Not on this Device - it does not override "Automatically Start Downloads" as your other updates are not affected.
I would strongly suggest that you set "Automatically Start Downloads" = NO and "Download New Books" = YES, because you have more control over the installation of resource updates and software updates, and you can purchase a free resource to see exactly what happens after you receive a Notification (and before you allow the download).
