I'm amazed at the number of books available in Logos. I have the basic Scholar's library and have bought some additional 150 books or so. However, I rarely read whole books on-screen. I find myself primarily using Logos as a study tool mostly using Bibles, commentaries, dictionaries and encyclopedias but not really using the monographs very much. What are your experiences?
There are some excellent resources that I consider buying such as the Christian Origins and the Question of God Series by N.T. Wright. I've also preordered the 5-volume Raymond Brown collection. I've eyed the Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library with the excellent books by John P. Meier.
BUT my question is: do you people really find yourself reading whole books in Logos? I mean from page one to the last page? Or do you mainly use monographs for reference and to search as part of collections?
I use a nice tablet pc (Dell Latitude XT2) and occasionally take it to the armchair and read a book in Logos using portrait mode and doing highlighting and writing notes using the tablet pen. However I don't find this as comfortable and intuitive as reading a normal book on paper and doing manual highlighting and scribbling notes in the margins. What are your experiences?
I'm a bit hesitant to buy big into resources that I in the end may not read because they tie me to the computer. I know I can read them on iphone and ipad but until the app does highlighting and notes it's not an option to me.
It would be very interesting to hear what others experiences are of reading whole books (or at least large chunks of) in Logos.
I appreciate any comments or input.
