Really, I REALLY miss "Auto-Lookup"
This is just the situation where auto-lookup would be used at my house. I was on the homepage, and an article caught my eye (just like Bob Pritchett planned it) and it clicked on the article and began reading; there was a dense block of scritpure references and so i highlighted them to do an "autolookup" so I could see and compare them all at once....UH OH! there's no auto look up feature!
If there isn't an equivelent in V4; please think about reinstating this vaulable feature!

Bob,
This is the closest I know how: Just open the power lookup.

I agree with Robert.

But it only works when Power lookup is linked or in "follow" mode, and I hate to leave it in those modes because it constantly refreshes and is doing work (and slowing down things) when I don't want it to.
Plus it looks up everything on the page starting from the top, so it's hard to scan visually.

Mitch,
That worked fine...and it has a copy function too.
My only grip is that it doesn't appear on the right-click menu....that would be nice instead of opening it up separately....arggg...
Todd, it only looked up what I had highlighted.
Nice feature alert: I put a shortcut to the power lookup on the tool bar and highlighted a different set of passages and with one click..it looked up the highlighted passages only....NICE!
Now if we could assign a keystroke to it I'd be in heaven!

Ah I see. I had immediately turned off the Follow mode (because of the reasons stated) and couldn't figure out how else to do it.

Weird. I did the same thing, and it doesn't work for me. When the Power lookup window appears it re-looks up the last word I did a right-click Power Lookup on. I have to re-highlight the text to make it lookup up the references in the selection.

This also didn't work with the Biblical People tool.

Personally, I like the Power Lookup, I'll share my reasons in a new post....I think we just need to play around and get the feel for how it works.

Here is what I did in sequence; maybe it matters.
- Opened power lookup
- put a short cut on the tool bar.
- closed power look up
- opened a commentary with a lot of references
- hightlighted the refs
- clicked the short cut
- powerlookup window came up with only my highlighted refs.
- closed power look up.
- repeated with a different set of refs to make sure.

Confirmed the above but found that:-
8. remove higlight and all refs are shown
9. highlight new refs and only these are displayed!

Dave,]
yes, I notice that when nothing is highlighted all refs are shown but it doesn't lag my system one bit so I didn't worry about it.
PS: in the NET it looks up all of the translators notes too!

Dave,
I'm using this on a 3 year old dell and it works like lightening! No lag whatsoever even on the NET notes.

So, just to be clear, when you guys bring up the Power Lookup window, it doesn't try to rerun a lookup on a previously looked-up word? (as mine does)

No.
Here is a screen shot...not even a place to look up a word on my screen....it just changes with the highlighted text...

Todd,
can you highlight the word and delete it?

Nope, can't highlight or select, let alone delete.

I posted over in Feedback that I personally really like the way Power Lookup works. I don't find that it slows down my system at all. However, that being said, when I click on a Tab it seems very slow changing to the new tab. I'm looking for instant gratification. :-).

todd,
what were you doing when you were cursed with the vitals word you see...I'm going to try and recreate your error...

I tried to duplicate your results but couldn't. I did notice that if I change PL from Follow to None, close it and then re-open, it defaults to Follow. Is that right, should it do that? Regardless, I still like the feature.

James,
I have it set to not follow...it just seems to work that way....(the word "follow" is highlighted in orange but no letter is chosen)
When you say it defaults to "follow" do you mean that there is a letter that it's following?

The details are in this thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/1599.aspx
But what I did was doubleclick on the word "visitest" in the Hebrews MacArthur commentary in the Heb 2:5-9 section:
For some reason, the double click opened the Power Lookup window and searched in there. The next time I opened the PL window, the "visitest" word was still there.
