Citation consistency
Sometimes books published by Eerdmans are misnamed in citations as Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company or William B. Eerdmans, or just Eerdmans. What is the correct citation style for Chicago Manual of Style?

misnamed in citations
Generally, this metadata is supplied by the publisher ... when they are inconsistent over time, one would expect the citation built to be inconsistent as well. IIRC the correct form is the one used by the publisher in that particular edition.

I understand and see what you all are saying. Is there a general rule? Like for WB Eerdmans use just plain "Eerdmans". For Baker Publishing Group use "Baker". For Zondervan Publishing House use "Zondervan." Would that be an incorrect way of doing citations? Does Chicago Manual of Style have a listing for these publishers?

The style only defines what info is to be included in the citation, and the way it is formatted. The publisher info is based on what it is given for that book, but here is an excerpt from https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/book/ed17/part3/ch14/toc.html

But you could use the Publisher metadata in Library. type publisher:eerdman in Library Find box. You might get away with Eerdmans and then Zondervan as abbreviations.

As long as you are consistent within your own writing, I doubt it makes much difference. I tend to use the shorted commonly understood form of the publisher's name. So just Eerdmans, Zondervan. But if it's a university press, like Cambridge University Press, I write it all out. I don't know why I break my personal rule on that. Just be consistent yourself and nobody is going to even notice.
