BUG? Unable to search downloaded books offline

I have Logos 29.0.14 on a Windows 10 PC. All my books are downloaded.

Until recently (ver. 29?), I could search offline. Now, I can't. When I search even a simple term in Books, the Logos equivalent of an hourglass just keeps waving.

This is an important function; I've often vacationed or taken my laptop to places with no internet, and need to be able to search regardless. Sometimes I disconnect the internet just to cut down on distractions. Given that the books are local to my pc/laptop, it should work. It always has worked. Now it doesn't.

On this thread (https://bit.ly/3Skbd09), Mark Barnes says Logos plans to continue to support offline searches. As it should! I hope that hasn't changed.

UPDATE: Ah, this is bad. The Information panel doesn't work offline either. This is new, bad, and needs to be remedied ASAP.

    Hi Dan

    I'm also using 29.0.14 - on Windows 11

And I've just tried doing a search and using the Information Tool when offline and it worked fine.

So it may be something specific to your configuration.

Are you totally away from a network or do you - for example - have a Wifi adapter enabled but not connected to a wifi network?

    Thanks for responding!

First, this is a new development. I have changed nothing on my end; local offline search has worked fine on Logos, and now suddenly it doesn't.

Second, I'm on a LAN. For years I've used a tool called InternetOff to turn off all internet access. All local searches have always worked fine, including Logos, until just recently.

Dan - Logs may be needed. I did see another user having some troubles offline with Factbook (also windows): https://community.logos.com/forums/p/219231/1276415.aspx#1276415

What happens if you simply disconnect the network LAN cable?

    Hi Dan,

We are looking into this issue, but have yet to be able to reproduce. If you do have logs that you could share that would definitely help us look deeper.

Thank you, Savanna. Has a big impact on me.

This log looks like you are online, as there are no sync errors resulting from a disconnection. Please repeat the issue  but upload the logs before you restart Logos.

Dave, Savanna, that's not how I work or experience the issue. I start Logos normally, work awhile, search is fine; then I turn off the internet connection, and search doesn't work. That's what I did for the log files.

However, I did learn something. In response to you, I did the Ctrl + click-logon, and selected Work offline. When I did that, the search functions worked!

But note: this still is a new behavior, and my Win 11 laptop is not that way. Previously and still on the laptop, I could/can disconnect the internet and continue searching functions.

So this gives me a not-preferred workaround, but doesn't answer what happened.

Savanna, can I do anything else for you? And if I submit typos while in work-offline mode, then close and come back in online mode, do the typos submit?

Hi Dan, working in offline mode is the only workaround I have at the moment for the issue you are experiencing. However, since you reported it previously worked in your preferred way I will continue looking at this and create a case for our team to investigate.

You will need to be in online mode to submit typo reports. Reporting them while offline will not cause them to submit one back in online mode.

    Thanks very much, Savanna!

PS — it still does work my preferred way on my Windows 11 laptop, BTW.
