Print Library Books in Collections

Initially, when I create a collection, it does not pick up any matching books from my print library. If I attempt to drag the relevant print library books into the collection, it will allow only one book to remain in the collection. Meaning, if I drag Book A, that will be fine. However, when I drag Book B, it will remove Book A to make room for Book B, and so on. Am I doing something wrong or is there a way around this?

The Collections panel doesn't currently support either Print Library books or Cloud (not downloaded) books. I'm actually surprised to see that even one shows up, and you should be aware that even the one that shows up may very well be ignored in any places where you might try to use a collection.

I've created a case to make sure that these resources are not being incorrectly shown in the Collections tool.

When you say it doesn't currently, is that giving us a shred of hope that there might be a plan to someday support one or both of these?

Like Rosie, I'm curious if there are future plans to provide Collections support for these types of books.

You're right. I did a search, restricted to the collection, on a sentence I pulled from A Puritan Theology and it came back with no results, but an All Books search with the same sentence did pick up the book.

n All Books search with the same sentence did pick up the book.

Print Library is also an option in Books Search.

We would like to improve support for Cloud and Print Library resources across the application. Part of that would include improvements to Collections. However there aren't any near term concrete plans, so while there's hope, there is nothing immediate.

That's right. Even though the resource isn't visible in the collection, it is most likely actually there in the collection. As you noted, some searches support Cloud and Print Library resources. You can also see this with Cloud resources, where the resource will show up in the collection again once the resource is downloaded. A similar situation could happen with a Print Library resource that you purchase.

Ah, yes. And it also works with the library tag I used to build the collection [Y]
