I can't find or use the concordance

When I click on the "concordance" icon in Tools, it says the concordance is currently unavailable. Why is it unavailable and how I can begin using it? I am using Logos software version 29.1.22. You would think that using a concordance in Logos would be common and frequent but it is not intuitive to use in Logos at all.

Click the link above and it will tell you if you own the dataset needed to use this feature.

Not sure, why you can't use the concordance. It seems to work fine on my computer.

As this is your first post, in case you are a beginning user, just a note: Most of what you would use a physical concordance for, in Logos you would actually use the search for (magnifying glass symbol at the top left), not the concordance.

The page was unclear to me if I already owned it. There was a greyed out section that said "This product is only available for purchase in one of the collections below." does that mean that I don't already own the dataset. How in the world is a basic tool like a concordance not included in every Logos version??

See my earlier answer. I think the concordance tool was only added a few years ago.

According to https://www.logos.com/compare/featuresets/Logos%20Feature%20Sets it is included from the Bronze level. I guess you bought starter or are on the free version?

thanks for your reply Bernhard. I will use the magnifying glass feature in the future. But I would like the know the frequency and location of key Bible words throughout all of Scripture, which is what a concordance does. I appreciate your time.

The sermon builder and the sermon manager are also not able to be used. Logos just upgraded to Version 30.1.38

It depends. I think you were given and thus looked at the wrong thing, the actual concordance product page would be https://www.logos.com/product/51523/concordance-tool - it again says this is included only in packages. You should definitely look for those packages, because the listing shows the dynamic price of those collections. For me this page looks like this:

    image

(click the screenshot to see it larger, I wanted to include the full list). Yes, Starter level packages are not included. The list shows that I own the concordance tool since I own the Logos 10 Basic Academic Features Package - actually I didn't buy it, since I'm not eligible for the Academic Program [but you may be], I just happen to own everything in this Feature Set. Concordance is also included in the Unfiltered Package I own, last line of the listing. My dynamic price for the Verbum Preaching Suite Feature Upgrade would be the next cheapest, if I wanted to buy the concordance tool, and it would be cheaper than the Bronze level sets (which come at markedly separate price points).

    Two more bits of information:

    • Most users can forget the three $0.00 I put into the blue box - those are Cloud subscriptions where you subscribe to a (differently sized) library, which are only free for the first two months.
    • I don't know why it's not in there: The Verbum Now and the Faithlife Connect subscriptions include Feature sets - they go for around $10 a month (Verbum Now and Faithlife Connect Essentials give a Full Feature set, afaik, there's a cheaper Faithlife Connect subscription which might or might not contain the concordance). Having access to all features through the subscription is actually the reason I didn't buy a Logos 10 Feature Set until now.

Have joy in the Lord! Smile

I talked to a Logos representative and I did not have the full features that included concordance. Sorry for your time.

You need the Bronze Feature upgrade or higher.

Phil, in addition to the information already presented, you may benefit to know that the Bible Word Study (BWS) feature presents information ordinarily found in a concordance. I include a screenshot and a brief explanation of the feature.

It is useful for any Bible, but particularly so for Reverse Interlinear Bibles like the KJV. You will know if you have the necessary dataset by noting an icon on the feature ribbon of your Bible that is a box with an Aleph and an Omega in it.

I have elected to choose a Bible that lacks this feature to demonstrate that any Bible presents BWS data. This feature is found by right clicking on the word of interest, in this case I have chosen "confirms" in Jn 3.33. Once the Context menu appears you would select 1. BWS which provides the information you see on the left. From the Word ring 2. select the center Word, this will generate data throughout the Bible you're using, similar to a concordance. See below.

Meanwhile, Jesus kept on growing wiser and more mature, and in favor with God and his fellow man.
