Jesus and Teams in Leadership
I'm interested in how Jesus employed teamwork in leadership. I believe his common mission was the Great Commission. Their unifying objective, as stated in Acts 1:8, was to be witnesses enabled by the Holy Spirit. However, Jesus did not organize his disciples into teams. Is it possible to treat an inferred teams analogy as equivalent? I have read books that say Jesus was a servant leader. Jesus on Leadership: Timeless Wisdom on Servant Leadership by Gene Wilkes, The Leadership Style of Jesus: How to Make a Lasting Impact by Michael Youssef and Christ-Centered Leadership: The Incarnational Difference by David L. Look at all the missionary trips of the apostles - are any of them a single person or do they all have companions? Look at the traditions associated with the apostles' work after the Ascension - are any of them a single person or do they all have companions? Then look at travel conventions of the time? Was individual travel common? If not, why not? Then try to sort out the intersection of the missionaries travel with all other travel.
To extend the study a bit, when did the concept of individual as it is understood in the West arise? How does your question apply in a culture that is focused on household, clans, church communities? How would you interpret the data collected if you used 1st century rather than 21st centuries concepts of personhood?
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
