Sidebars
I've noticed this mostly in Bibles. The majority of them should first display without the Sidebar table of contents, like I intended. Some displays include the Sidebar, while others do not. The next time I display the resource, the sidebar is shown in some "default" display for that resource, regardless of whether I open or close it by clicking the symbol in the top left-hand corner or checking or unchecking the Show Left Sidebar option in the Panel menu. How can I permanently disable it in a resource?

The open/close state of the sidebar is saved as the default for each book at the point when your close that book. If you don't want it to be shown in the "default" display, then you need to close the sidebar before closing the book.

It depends on whether you are referring to the left or right sidebars? One of the options outlined below should do it
Thanks. I was referring to the "Main Menu Sidebar" which I now remember cannot be closed or put on "auto hide" mode. It would be nice if it did have the "auto hide" feature....

If I close my, eg NIV with the sidebar closed it opens with it closed, if I close it with the sidebar open it opens with the sidebar open.
Are you opening a layout that has been saved with the sidebar open?

I believe xnman is referring to the toolbar for the whole program which will either be on the left or the top of the screen.
