How to filter only the notes that are tied to a Bible Reference but NOT a specific resource?

I have a question regarding notes filtering. I assumed this would be easy but I can't figure it out. I am assuming I am missing something obvious, but if not, I would be surprised if what I am looking to do is not possible!

Basically, I want to filter only the notes that are tied to a Bible Reference but NOT a specific resource. In other words, to notes that are tied to a Bible Reference, but not to a Text Range.

I tried filtering by Reference: Bible, but that included notes that were tied to commentaries that had Bible milestones. I tried Anchor: Reference, but that gave the same results. I thought there might be a Book: None option, but there wasn't.

Am I missing something? This seems to me like an important filter to have.

Like you I can't see a way of doing this.

Why do you see it as important? What would it enable that you can't do at the moment?

Not easy, because Workflows would also have to be blocked. And you may not want Notes to which a Bible Anchor was added e.g. for a Lemma.

So Book:None option would not be effective if you have Workflows.

You can make a request at Faithlife Feedback - Desktop but tagging would be your only workaround.

I have about 5000 notes, and about half are tied to Scripture references, and half are tied to book selections. I knew I was looking for a note that was tied to a Scripture reference, which would have narrowed my search considerably.

There is no way to create an effective Search unless there is some identifying text that you entered. A Tag would be the best way, although it will be time-consuming with 5000 notes.

Robert what your seeking to do would work, except for the fact years ago Logos decided to tie highlights within Notes- this is one result of the fly in the Notes use. It is a major FLAW THAT CANNOT BE OVERCOME.

The Notes tool can distinguish between Notes and Highlights, but it cannot distinguish bible references from books with bible references (e.g. commentaries), nor can it distinguish bible notes by selection from bible notes by reference.

Hence my suggestion to Tag such notes.

I ran into the above problem and tried and tried and couldn't solve it. And because of that, I have spent many hours changing my notes from "Reference" to "Selected Text" and feel I will never get completely done with the changing project.

But I do not use "Reference" ever when I build new notes now. I always highlight the first word of the verse and use "Selected Text". I learned the hard way. 2nd thing I do is, I always "tag" any note with one or more "tags".

I think and hope the "tagging system" and finding tags in Logos will be improved, but at least I can find all my notes with certain "tags". Maybe one day, I'll learn "Labels" better and might be able to use "Labels" in Notes and search for a label....
