Merry Christmas (Христос Родився) to my fellow - Ukrainian Orthodox brothers and sisters.
mm.
Hopefully this doesn’t violate any rules, but I thought the Ukrainian Orthodox church celebrated on December 25th?
Am I in error about this?
Not in error. January 6/7 always reminds me, of our family and Mom and Dad. Both are of (German) Russian/Ukrainian descent.
No offence meant just good memories of growing up in a European home.
However,
Ukraine has passed legislation moving its official Christmas holiday to December 25, further distancing itself from the traditions of the Putin-aligned Russian Orthodox Church, which celebrates the holiday on January 7. If this needs to be deleted, by all means. Totally get it. 👍

Oh, I didn't mean your post might have violated the rules. I was afraid my question might stir up a debate. Your post seemed perfectly fine to me.
Not everyone who is Ukrainian Orthodox actually lives in Ukraine, and would therefore be unaffected by the change in official Ukrainian holiday dates. So the post is fine indeed.
I'm certain though that some of our brothers and sisters in the Arab world celebtate Christmas today. Merry Christmas (عيد ميلاد مجيد) to you!!

Russia and Greece were the last European countries to adopt the Gregorian calendar (1924) so it is not surprising that conservative branches of the Orthodox church still use the Julian calendar for their church calendar. This is one cause of the differing dates for celebrating Christmas. Some of these use a revised Julian calendar to put align themselves more closely to the Gregorian calendar. December 25th is the Gregorian calendar date; January 7 is the Julian calendar date. The use of calendars may vary within the same Orthodox Church.
