Help with deleting incorrect or unnecessary tags, specifically in Notes

I have been adding some tags to notes, but as things go some tags are not useful. For ex. I use the 3yr lectionary and I am creating a note for each day with propers and etc. During the season after Pentecost, these are also called Propers, and numbered 1-29. However, there is year A, B, C. I started taging the Series A days with "Series A", which is sensable. And also tagging with the season: "Easter", "Christmas", etc. However, as I came into the season after Pentecost I used the tags "Series A" and "Propers" which is not all that helpful since "Propers" would automatically include A and B and C. I changed "Propers" to "Propers A" creating a new tag, but I'd like to remove "Propers" from the list. In fact, "A Propers" might even be a better tag.
Any suggestions how to remove or delete unused Notes tags?

You can find Notes for the tag to be changed/deleted under the sidebar Tags heading. If you select some/all, you will see
On hover, I can delete ("Remove from all") or "apply to all" any of the tags. Or you can add a tag to all of them.

Dave:
Thanks for that, but not quite what I was asking. Yes, in this way tags can be added/removed for a single note or in mass.
What I was looking for is a way to eliminate the tag itself.
Using your image as an example. If I removed the tag "human" from all my notes and then wanted to remove it from the tag lookup list.
How would I accomplish that?
You might ask why. When changing a tag from somthing I thought was a good tag, to a better tag (like the example of "propers" I used in my OP) it would be better to not have the old tag show up as a pick option on the list. Then I am not at risk of using that old tag again.
Thanks.

As far as I can see (I just checked) if I remove all instances of a tag then it no longer appears in the popup list.
Are you seeing something different?

Hey, you are right. I missed one tag on one note, so it still showed in the pick list. Fixed it and now it's gone.
Too easy, I guess. Overthinking.
Thanks all!

I'm having a similar problem.
In the Filters column, there are no tags listed as I have deleted all of the tags from all of my notes. However, in the tags section at the bottom of a note, whenever I begin typing in that section, a list of some (not all) of my previous tags appear. Why (since all of my tags have been deleted)? Where can I go to delete those tag remnants?

I can't reproduce. A screenshot would be helpful.
Pls confirm whether Mac/Windows and version of Logos.

The above screenshot contains all the pertinent information. Notice that in the Filters column there are no tags --- because they have all been deleted. However, in the popup at the bottom of the screen, there are two tags listed when I type C --- Conditional statements ... Covenants --- this is also true when I type other letters. Why are there tags in the popup when I've already deleted all of my tags? How do I get rid of these tags in the popup?

I'm unable to replicate this behavior on v31.1.24 but curious if I am missing a step in my attempt. Here's what I have done. Could you also install the latest update so we are both on the same version.
1. Created a note (also created inside a notebook)
2. Added a tag like `luke`, etc.
3. Removed the tag
4. Typed the previous deleted tag but the UI is showing it as a new tag rather then an already created on.

I updated to the same version that you're using --- 31.1.24. I'm still experiencing the same issue of previously deleted tags appearing in the popup at the bottom of the note. This includes ALL of the many tags I've previously used --- they ALL appear in the popup, but none appear in the Filter window on the left of a note.

You might be seeing the tag possibly due deleting a note with that tag on it. Could you try permanently deleting all the notes in the Notes trash to clear out those tags?
I do agree, this is a bug and I'll create a case to improve this. The work around above should get you going for today until a fix is implemented.

Problem solved! It never occurred to me that the popup was getting the tags from the notes in the Trash folder. Once I emptied the Trash folder, the tags popup was empty. Thanks so much for your insight and help.

In the library I cannot get rid of the tag "Skim2024".
I think many years ago there was a workaround, then the unused tags removal became automatic, and then the problem came back.

I found the answer to my question above for my own older question. The forum search found additionally a thread with "Skim2016" when I searched for "Skim2024". The forum search seems to be fuzzy or intelligent, which is good.
The link to the old thread is below and Dave gave a good answer, I just had lost the post-it tag from my calendar.
