I took a class under Dr. Bauer using IBS to study Matthew. The textbook you linked to is a monster to get through the first time.
The man is an amazing teacher and a walking encyclopedia. If I could I would study under him again!
It was likely the hardest class I took in seminary but it was worth it.
IBS takes time to master and discipline to stay focused on, but I found it more useful than the other Bible interpretation classes I took.
I discovered Henrick's book years ago; much simpler but useful for lay people particularly. I'll take a look at the third book.
I am considering developing a way to introduce this technique to laypeople hopefully without overwhelming them.

That’s exactly what Chuck Swindoll did in the Searching the Scriptures book he wrote! He simplified the material from the other 2 books 👍
