The passage list Add menu is great! It needs one more item...
Add from clipboard. This was in L3 and it was the method I used 90% of the time.
Please?
The passage list Add menu is great!
Hi Thomas
This looked interesting, so I thought to ask if we have features that can link items we copy in a word processor, or OneNote, or whatever? I haven't paid that much attention to the many ways one can select how to copy text, or am I not understanding how the below works, which is probably the case bescause it had an unsuccessful result when I pasted each type into Word. In other words, what exactly does it refer to in the picture below when it says "copy location as"
Blessings,
In other words, what exactly does it refer to in the picture below when it says "copy location as"
Well, when I had some time, I played with this a little and was successful when I did the "CTRL ALT C" combo, to paste a URL into the clipboard. I then opened up Word 2007, selected to add a hyperlink into the doc, and pasted what I had in the clipboard onto that little line and hit ok. Well, I got what I thought was a link to Logos 4 and the book I referenced, but to my surprise it opened up Libronix. Does this qualify as a bug? This is what the Help file in Logos said:

Yes, great to see this feature in L4 now, and yay that you can Copy and Paste this list (one of the few things you can copy and paste from Logos into Word or somewhere else that you can print it from).
I'd also like to see the Paste command (on the right-click menu or Ctrl+V) be ungreyed in a Passage List when you've copied a reference from somewhere. It didn't work in L3 either (why shouldn't Paste or Ctrl+V do the same thing as Add from Clipboard?). Currently Paste (or Ctrl+V) works only if you've Cut (Ctrl+X) or Copied (Ctrl+C) a verse reference from the Passage List and are pasting it back into the Passage List. Same was the case in L3.
Sorry Thomas, I didn't want to hijack you post
I have no problem with Copy/CTRL+C and Paste/CTRL+V from a book to Passage List (or PL to PL), and can paste multiple times. In a PL you right click at the side of the reference (not on it).

I know you click to the side of the reference. But Paste is greyed on my right-click menu, after I've copied a reference from the Reference box in my Bible:
Yes, I can copy from a PL to a PL and from a book to a PL (hadn't tried the latter until just now). I was just trying to paste the verse reference as plain text, which I guess it isn't smart enough to convert into a Logos reference. I think it should be.
But Paste is greyed on my right-click menu, after I've copied a reference from the Reference box in my Bible
That wasn't clear but I don't see why a plain text reference could not be made to work ie. converted into a hyperlink.
Because of this thread I've been playing with the new PL and I have to say it's pretty darn cool.
I highlighted a section of commentary and all of the references and put it into a PL with one click then sent the whole thing to word to make a PDF....very nice.
My ONLY niggle would be that the formatting gets ugly when it goes to word...it's not HORRIBLE...but it would be nice if headings retained their bold, and paragraph text retained it's setting....but that's a side issue.
It would also be great if there were and option to "print" the list as shown so I'd not have to go through word to get to a PDF...just have a "print list" button... [:D]
After copying a passage from the reference box, click on Add drop-down in PL panel, right-click in Reference box choose Paste.
I've submitted Thomas's suggestion to include '... clipboard' to the 'Add passages from:' list.

If it hasn't been noted before, there really needs to be an option to send search results to existing passage lists and not just creating new ones. I am surprised that it does not already work that way.
L3's implementation was somewhat quirky but I found it useful in not creating more Lists than necessary! I would welcome a Search option to Add ..to another PL
Just wanted to add my support for an Add from Clipboard. I was just reading a webpage that I wanted the verses from. It's a bit of a pain to save it as a txt file and then try and extract the right bits.
It needs one more item...Add from clipboard.
[Y] That would be great.
I agree. I want the add from clipboard option as well. This was the best feature along with the ability to have multiple columns of different versions...etc
Add from clipboard will be available in 4.0d Beta 1.
Thanks Melissa! Is it possible to add Dewayne's request too? That would also be really useful, though I appreciate it throws up some UI issues:
Sounds great. Any hints as to how soon that might be available? Having beta withdrawal symptoms already.
