Alternatives of Logos in iPad
Don't think that I am talking about apps from other companies, if so this post will be deleted by someone soon.
1) The original Logos app
2) http://library.logos.com/ (or http://library.logos.com/?beta=false after you use 3)
3) http://library.logos.com/?beta=true (you cannot save it in the bookmark, it will only save library.logos.com, so you need to memorize ?beta=true. If you don't need to switch back to ?beta=false again, then do it once will work forever)
4) a remote desktop app, to get access to Logos4 in a Windows based computer (Mac also works, but currently Logos in Windows is the most powerful)
Let me explain it:
1) the Logos app is a bit more than a ebook reader, the good thing is that you can download the ebook offline.
2-4 requires internet access
2) occasionally, it can be better than the app, e.g. reading Chinese Bible, where the app has error on indentation.
3) much better than 1-2, looks very similar to your Logos4. But no reading plans, etc.
4) Full access to your own Logos4, using one of the following apps:

I haven't compare which one is better (since I am not rich), nor I find any review of VNC app on iPad. I think iTeleport and Desktop Connect are the most famous one. I will use Mocha VNC Lite now since it is free and wait for some review to compare them.

To conclude, using all 4 methods helps in different ways to your Bible Studies. 1 can be offline; 4 is most powerful, allowing you to access all your resources, but you need to turn on your desktop at home first; 3 seems very good in between, 2 might be useful sometimes (but 2 and 3 cannot be used at the same time). But since the iPad does not support multitasking yet (will be in Fall), you can't use 1, 3, 4 all at the same time.

I thought you were talking about alternatives instead of an iPad, specifically a Windows system for option #4. So you don't need to buy the iPad app. You can use the free edition of LogMeIn if you're just accessing your own PC remotely from any web-connected computer (e.g., your laptop, if you've got WiFi access).

True but it is worth it to me. The very best of this type of app on the iPad. Easy to use and configure. Fast and simple.

Oh, really? How it compares to iTeleport? I read some review on iTeleport saying that it is great, easy to use. And when I search the reviews, it seems that iTeleport and Desktop Connect are the two most popular one.

People have been installing iPads in cars now (here's one example of a kit for doing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SkltRqOF5k). So just think. You can be tooling down the highway while studying your Bible. Yikes! Hopefully one would only do that while stopped at a light, or let your passenger do it. Otherwise you might meet your Creator sooner rather than later...

The only way this makes since is if you can use Text to speech technology so that you can listen to the book as you drive.
After reading many many reviews, I finally decided to buy the logmein ignition on iPad to remote the Logos4 at home. Although it is very expensive, but it worth it. the quality is very good, easy to set and use. In fqct, I am using the logmein to type this post. LOGOS4 works very good, though of course not as good as in front of the desktop, but the best in iPad. Until the iPad offer full functionality of Logos4, Logos4 through VNC is very good, especially through logmein.

How are you finding the performance of LogmeIn on the iPad? I used it on the iPhone for a while but found the screen refresh when scrolling a page very choppy (it seems to be refreshing the whole desktop as a piece of graphic, was thus slow and gave rise to ugly squares on refreshing) that I gave up on it, I even uninstalled the desktop software afterwards. Later on I looked at the RDP clients hoping for better screen refresh, and finally settled on Jaadu's RDP as it worked very well for me (cool UI, good performance, even good remote audio).
Unfortunately they do not have a RDP client for the iPad yet so I have to look for other alternatives, and am now using iTap. It works but I am not particularly impressed about it (the mouse UI isn't as well designed as Jaadu and remote audio is choppy) therefore I'm very interested to know how you're faring with other alternatives. [:)]
How are you finding the performance of LogmeIn on the iPad?
I just tried on a WiFi network, and since I will be back to Hong Kong for the following 3 months, I would try the 3G data plan on late August only, hope that I remember to let you know the result at that time.
I am kind of afraid that the LogMeIn work worse than the iTeleport on a poor network... after hearing your experience

Does method 4 work well for you? Were you able to highlight without too much difficulty?
Have you tried doing that over the iPAD 3G connection (instead of WiFi)?
Good question, the Mocha VNC Lite I am using is very bad in this sense, and the paid version is better. Though I haven't tried any saved version yet.
I haven't paid for the 3G plan yet. I will only after the multitasking is out.
For the one who test the VNC, please make some comments. (by the way, there are some posts saying their experience already, but they don't compare different VNC app)
I use iSSH on my iPad and iPhone for remote access. It does VNC and ssh both.
This isn't a comprehensive answer to your question, but a comment from my own experience.
I've used LogMeIn extensively, and love how simple it is. It can even wake up your computer if you want to keep your PC at home on sleep mode. The only drawback I can see (beyond the price) is having to run the program in the background on your desktop.
On the other hand, we have multiple Mac computers at home. When I'm in the house I often will use Mocha VNC to connect. Macs are extremely easy to configure for VNC simply within System Preferences.
I don't use either program to run Logos 4, since I primarily use the iPad as a book reader. But maybe these observations can be helpful to you.
