Downloading Resources without Updating

There has been recent discussion around updating without downloading resources. Now I'd like to know if we are able to download resources while avoiding an application update? If so how do we configure our settings to accomplish this?

You can download resources without an application update as long as you don't restart Logos. But as soon as you restart it, the application update will be applied. So unfortunately, no, there is no long-term way to stave off application updates.

CORRECTION: I was wrong. See the rest of this thread below, specifically DMB's post about setting the update channel.

It can be done and it has been discussed many times. But you risk staying with a version that will not be supported as Faithlife now support only the latest stable version.

Would you point me to one of the most helpful of these discussions as my intent is only to allow for time to reveal whether there are any major problems to be avoided with the most current update while having the benefit of my most recent purchases.

I trust Daves answer more than mine, but I have never heard of this being done and I can't imaging how it is done without a considerable amount of expended energy. As far as I know, when any updates download, they are always BOTH resource and software.

The only thing I can think of involves multiple installations, a portable hard drive, and a lot of indexing.

If I understand the question, and echoing Dave (I think), I do it all the time.  I generally go a couple updates without update, but still get my latest books.  I got my command from Andrew (to give credit).  I do it so often, I put the command text in my Setup icon.

So, in the command box:  Set Update Channel to Default (to get updates), or something else (eg NO) to not get the application updates.

And you can verify your command by going to 'About Logos' below the current version, etc. (far left column).
