Sync selected books to offline computer

I would like to sync selected (new) books to my offline computer. This computer is too old to be connected anymore.

I tried to copy those books from my Logos Resources folder to a USB stick, then issue the command "scan /Volumes/SANDISK/" in Logos on my offline computer. But it did not work. I don't want to copy the whole Resources folder, which is way too big.

Is there a specific folder structure that Logos is expecting on the USB drive ? Or can I simply copy the selected resources at the root of my USB drive ?

Were the resources in a FOLDER within the "scandisk?" If so, make sure to indicate that in the command.

This can't work: Logos needs to confirm your license to new books which requires an online connection to the license servers. Copying the whole resource folder won't change this: your installation needs to have knowledge of your bought licenses.

I don't know how to circumvent this for a fully offline instance (I don't know if there's a local representation of your license status, kept somewhere on a current version of your Logos, that could be copied over to the offline instance), there might even be books/resources that require a newer version of Logos to run at all (my understanding being that current versions of Logos require a secure online connection to the Logos servers at least sometime during installation process)

    Hello,

No, I put them at the root of my USB drive. But did not work.

In my case, I try to copy NICOT15EZR.logos4 and NICNT69GA.lbxlls from my Resources folder. It is enough to copy the .logos4 or .lbxlls files matching my resources ?

This is where I wonder if I'm missing something to achieve offline sync. I saw older posts where scanning resources on a USB drive would work. But I'm unclear what are all the files (incl. the license rights) that I need to copy on the USB drive.

I have never tried to limit it to specific books.

I am also unsure if you will have success being offline. 1) Logos may require authentication and 2) resources sometimes get updated and require newer versions of the app.

Based upon what Mick wrote, I think he is probably right... you will need internet connection.

You mentioned that the "computer is too old to be connected anymore." Why is that? What OS are you running? What version of the app are you running?

An old version of MacOS, which did not get any security updates since quite some time... So I don't connect it anymore to the internet. But still runs fine with Logos and I use it from time to time for my Bible study.

Anyway, if there is no way to do offline sync I'll live with the library I have on it. Just wanted to sync newer books if I could, but no issue if I can't.

I could make it work. The trick was to copy the licenses and the books.
In the Logos data folder of the offline computer (E.g. on a Mac : <home>/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/<random name>) :

    1. Copy the selected books (in my case NICOT15EZR.logos4 and NICNT69GA.lbxlls) into the ResourceManager/Downloaded folder

    2. Copy Licenses.dat from the online computer into the LicenseManager folder

    3. Run Logos on the offline computer

Logos then correctly imported and indexed the new resources I had copied.
(For the record, I'm running Logos 8 on the offline computer, and Logos 10 on the online computer).

Disclaimer: make sure to backup your Logos data folder before making such changes, as incompatibilities may arise when different versions of Logos are run on both computers.
