CRASH: when adding shortcut to Favorites (32.0 Beta 3 32.0.19, Early Access, WIN 11)

Favorites panel was open. I dragged a shortcut from the shortcuts bar (at the top of the window, not the left side) over to an open folder in Favorites. There was a pause for a couple seconds, then the app closed. After zipping the files, I launched Logos and found the shortcut I was adding to Favorites was not there, so it crashed before the shortcut was saved. When I Zipped the files, I noticed there was no Crash file.

FYI, Favorites has been working very slowly for over a month; slow to load when opening, adding a folder, adding a shortcut or deleting an entry. After the action, the mouse pointer can be moved, but the app is frozen for about 3 seconds. If I scroll or click on something during those three seconds, nothing happens until the frozen state has passed, then the app catches up with the mouse actions I did during the frozen state.

It crashed with a workflow shortcut. It only crashed this once - after relaunching Logos it tried it again and it worked. I has not happened with other shortcuts before or after this crash.

The slowdown with the Favorites tool is always present no matter what action I take with it.

By the way, before the crash, I had moved another shortcut (layout) which caused the app to freeze as I described. Immediately after that is when I moved the shortcut that caused the crash. I suspect that whatever is causing the freeze with Favorites may have been a contributing cause to the crash. Once that problem is solved, I think the crash problem will go away.

I will also take a look at the Favorites issues you mentioned.

FYI, when I have run a search and click in the star to save it in favorites, the same slow response happens with Favorites. My action immediately opens the Favorites list, then the app freezes for about 4 seconds, then it adds the shortcut for the search to the list and the app unfreezes.

Thank you for looking into this. Here is some additional information, and my FavoritesManager folder and CEF log (zipped below), to assist you. Let me know if you need any additional information.

Using 32.0 RC 1 (32.0.29), Early Access, WIN 11:

Replication:

Open Logos to a blank layout.
Open Favorites. (It took 12 seconds to load my favorites.)
Open Program Settings and make sure the setting "At Startup Open to" is set to "Most recent layout - local"
Close Program Settings
With only Favorites open, close Logos
Open Logos. (From the time the Favorites frame opened, it too 12 seconds to load my favorites.)

During the 12 seconds that Favorites are loading, the app is frozen.

Expectation:

That Favorites would load in about a second like it used to.

We have a dev looking into this issue. Would you be able to provide a screen recording of the slowness you're experiencing? It would be helpful to get a visual of what is happening on your end when opening Favorites and then adding and deleting items.

Here is a video of the problem. I used the replication steps listed above (except step 3 was already done). While waiting for the Favorites frame to populate, I moved the pointer between the Documents and Guides icons to show the app was frozen - just before the Favorites frame is populated, the tech tips become active, showing the app is no longer frozen.

Related symptom(?) with interesting observation.

Along with the reported problem of a slow loading Favorites frame, I noticed that the Logos App has been sluggish when responding to clicks/actions on my part (such as opening various tools, layouts and books). Both experiences started at about the same time several weeks ago. With some time on my hands this morning I opened the Task Manager to see if I could find any contributing cause. I noticed that the "LogosCEF" processes were listed separately in the "Background Processes" section of Task Manager. They used to be listed as sub-processes under the Main Entry "Logos Bible Study" in the Apps section of Task Manager.

I'm wondering if this change with the LogosCEF processes is contributing to the problem I'm having with Favorites and the sluggishness of the Logos App.
