32.1 (32.1.31) is now available
The Logos Bible Study application version 32.1 is now available to all users.
To immediately update to the current stable version, enter Update Now into the command box. Otherwise, the app will automatically update the next time it is scheduled to check for updates.

So this is yet another case in which Windows users have to do a 300MB download just for a Mac fix. I've been saying this for years: this is a stupid practice.
I just downloaded the previous yesterday. I'll have no choice but to get this one if I want the FBotM & other resources tomorrow.

Welll... look at it this way.... Mac users have to put up with Windows downloads also. So it is a wash. [8-|]

Regardless of the OS needing the fix, it is not ideal for users to be forced to update if we're not getting anything out of it. I'll want to skip this new update as long as possible but, as soon I buy books, I'll have no choice but to download it in order to get my books. This is irksome to me, especially as it seems to be happening more frequently.

But we are getting something out of it. More stable code as the result of the use of best practices in source code version control. Which is not to say that I don't understand your point.

This will take your software off of the update channel so that you don't get software updates pushed to you. You will still get dataset and book updates, so you won't miss those. But you won't get any software updates until you switch back to the default channel.

This will cause your software to check for the latest update on the main update channel. This little trick has saved me a lot of headaches and from automatically installing disruptive buggy updates.

Yeah, I appreciate that as well; it's just that stable code is all abstract to me when I have to download another 300MB and there's nothing in the release notes to justify why I have to.

The thing is it's a waste of time and bandwidth. At some point, the latter has to be costing Logos something as they push through an unneeded 300MB update to thousands of users.
A better practice, I think, would be to simply send through a small patch updating the version number if there are no coding changes.

However, we've just learned that updates can be blocked for specific systems. So neyther of it would be necessary if the blocking feature would be configured properly when updates are only needed on a certain system (Big Sur in this case.)

2. So what if it take a couple of minutes of your time.... you probably get a more stable system out of it which would be to your benefit.
3. I would rather Logos not use their time on stuff like this, that is miniscule in the first place, and spend their time on worthwhile fixes and functions...

As my hardware, working environment, and Logos usage are exactly the same as yours when it comes to updating (i.e. it takes a "miniscule amount of time" and "a couple of minutes of your time"), and seeing also that time is the only factor I have to consider when updating, you are totally right to dismiss my concerns as not being "worth the fuss".

I'm grateful for what I got from Logos via Kiyah's post. If I had known such this option existed, I would not have come here and made a fuss.
