Limiting authors in search

I am using the current beta on a MacBook with newest MacOS.

I noticed that when I try to limit search results to a specific author, the list of books by this author takes minutes to display. Things are stuck at this screen:

Previously, this was a matter of seconds.

Any suggestions how I can figure out what's happening and how I can fix this?
