Community Notes is Sunsetting
Between now and May 21, we will be sunsetting Community Notes. This means we’ll remove Community Notes functionality from the desktop app, and the Community Notes panel will also go away in an upcoming release.
You’ll still see the Community Notes panel on your desktop app for the time being, available as “read-only.” Attempts to post a new note will be unsuccessful. (To stop an attempt, just click Cancel.)
Your Community Notes will appear automatically in the Notes tool, in a different “notebook” for each group. No action is needed, but if you’d like to share a note with your group you will need to do so manually in one of two ways:
-
Open the documents menu from the main app toolbar, click on a notebook, and hit Share in the left info pane.
-
Select the notebook within the Notes tool, then click the three dots in the right corner of your workspace and click Share.
Lastly, the removal of Community Notes is not related at all to the new subscription we've recently released. We decided you do this so that we could focus our development efforts on the features that really matter to users (see our 2023 post on user feedback regarding Community Notes usage).

Thank you Ali. While the removal of any feature likely affects some users negatively, I wholeheartedly applaud Logos' efforts to identify and remove features that really aren't used compared to the effort to maintain them, and in general to streamline the product for the benefit of all.
I encourage Logos to do more of this if there are other features, or parts of features that are minimally used. I also encourage Logos to streamline/combine features to minimize confusion on "the best way to do ______". It should never be confusing to figure out how to get started in satisfying a customer's interest, new user or experienced one.

Do you know when this change will take place? Out of curiousity I just tried to add a new community note from the Community Notes Tool and it worked fine!
Thanks, Graham

Popular Highlights: I expect Pop Hilites to continue. Is this correct?
Pop Hilites are put on by the community. Will they keep on being a part of my L universe?
I like them.

We have no plans to deprecate popular highlights.

You say "sunsetting", I say "deprecate"; let's call the whole thing off.
Actually, 'sunsetting' has a kindler, gentler tone, sort of like the Thanatorium scene in Soylent Green.

I never, ever figured to see 'Soylent Green' mentioned here. I worked at a theatre where this played way back. I don't remember the scene, as working Soylent only allowed me to see pieces of it out-of order, + I did not watch it through, even though I could have for free.

Community notes was almost a great tool. It's implementation would have been dependent on a more robust social media platform and active groups. I had some benefits with shared notes among my family and smallgroup that will be missed.
But I do think this is not a bad decision
