Is query builder required for book filtering?

Using Logos Bible Study 32.1.31

My goal is to be able to explicitly type (without using the query builder) a search such as

destruction OR destroyed OR judgement in "2 Peter" within the ESV bible

I haven't figure out a workable syntax for the italic part above.

I've looked through a couple Logos help files below and saw syntax documentation but wasn't sure what syntax parts are required and which are just illustrating search fields

Is it possible to type in the italic part, or is that filtering functionality only available through the query builder?

Getting closer - now I just need to figure out how to specify to search within the "ESV Bible"

(destruction OR destroyed OR judgement) AND bible:"2 Peter"

Hi Michael - and welcome to the forums

I would use (destruction OR destroyed OR judgement) IN bible:"2 Peter" (using IN instead of AND to specify that your search range is 2 Peter).

And you can't include the Bible in the search string but you can select it by clicking the version indicator at the top left - see step 3 at https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017808111-Bible-Search#Search

    Does this help?

Thanks Graham, helps that you mentioned I can't include bible in the search string.

This aligns with my experimenting where I found I could use syntax like "bible.niv", but this did not override the Bible specified in the query builder (which was set to ESV so search results still showed ESV for example below)
        IN bible.niv:"2 Peter"

Yes, this is telling the search engine to use the milestone specified in the NIV (in some cases difference Bibles have different verse mappings) as opposed to focusing the search on the NIV

Would this help? Doing a Bible search, setting ESV as the Bible to use, and 2 Peter as the range .

Hi Wolfgang - that does work and close to what I'm doing now with the difference being I can specify bible:"2 Peter" and not have to select the second red rectangle on the right.

Personally I've worked with a lot of query language so feel most comfortable to just type the query text myself. But selecting the specific resource (the red rectangle on the left) isn't too bad.
