Opening Logos Desktop App with Logos Pro Trial and Internet Dropout

My Internet dropped out recently when I tried opening the Logos Desktop App on my Mac with my Logos Pro Trial inactive. The Logos desktop app didn't launch at all until my Internet came back up and I re-launched the app.

I can run some additional tests where I try launching the Logos Desktop app and kill the Internet connection on it while my Logos Pro trial is active if need be,

There might be an issue where Logos Pro is reaching out to the server to check for licensing, but if there's no Internet, it's not handing off the app launch in offline mode.

This machine I'm on has the Desktop Beta, so I can test it using the beta.

There can be a fairly long timeout when the internet connection has dropped. How long did you allow this to wait?

That said, if you know your internet is out, you can hold down the Cmd key immediately after clicking the Logos icon to start the application. This will bring you to the login screen where you can click the button to work offline.

It dropped while I was closing Logos, and Logos became unresponsive and I had to Force Quit the app.

I then tried to re-open the app, and it wouldn't complete the opening process either and just sat there for a few minutes.

It seems Logos Pro still isn't playing too smoothly with internet dropouts yet.

How about Logos isn't playing nice with the public BETA of your OS.

How about Logos isn't playing nice with the public BETA of your OS.

Have you considered that possibility?

Which is why it is important to post the issue in the Logos Desktop BETA forum.... This could be very helpful for the developers to locate a potential bug and identify whether it is Logos 34 Beta related or something changed in the Sonoma 14.5 Beta that they may need to address in Logos 34 and future releases.....

The only problem with that is that BETA Operating Systems are not officially supported. Reporting a potential bug in a beta Logos version running on an in production/live OS needs to be reported.

Asking the programmers to chase a potential bug running on a beta OS that can change from day to day (and potentially resolve the issue) is not really proper. It is premature to do so.

Again that is why beta OS's are not supported.

Thanks everyone for chiming in. I have some additional feedback on this one.

The issue also occurred with stable builds of macOS Sonoma as well. I'm reporting the Beta build of Sonoma since that's the last time it occurred, but it has occurred on both.
The issue didn't occur before my Logos Pro trial. If my Internet went out when opening/closing Logos on just L10, there was a gentler handoff where the app opened/closed (but I just couldn't sync or use any online features).
I remember having a similar issue during the initial rollouts of Logos Now and Faithlife Connect, but a tweak/engine update resolved both, so possibly a similar issue here. I've pretty much lived in an area with unreliable Internet through LN, FLC, and now LP, so I've been able to test everything on unreliable Internet. :-) We're hoping to get fiber coming up, but so far, all our choices are pretty glitchy (some even glitchier than others, my previous ISP was out during my PhD comp exam, and I had to complete it on my iPhone).
The tweak that was done during LN and FLC held even during the FL Server Outage during L8. I was on FLC during the time, and my app opened right up, gently handed off to offline mode, and worked great, and I was able to get all my work done in the app (I couldn't sync or use online features, but everything I needed was offline anyway). There was no downtime for me there at all. If you could apply a similar tweak here, that would be great.

While Beta OS versions are not officially supported - that does not mean that a report of an issue on that Beta OS cannot or will not be beneficial to the development team. It may be something they make note of and are able to keep an eye on as they prepare the engine for when the Beta OS version moves to stable.

Much better to know about it in advance and keep an eye out for it, so it doesn't impact the first release that is officially supported.

Something occurred on my Intel iMac Pro running Sonoma (stable builds of Logos and Sonoma) today. Not sure if it's related, but thought I'd throw it out there.

I haven't used the Mac since Sunday. Today opened Logos, and was prompted to re-sign in. Signing back in did successfully launch the app.

By the way, here's my network topology: Most of the time all my machines are connected via Ethernet, only occasionally Wi-Fi. Wi-FI AP is UI Long Range AP, Ethernet Switch is UI 16 Port POE Switch. Router is UI UDM Pro. Modem is ARRIS SB8200. ISP is Resort TV Cable/Cablelynx Turbo Package 300/20, Dynamic IP, Quad 9 DNS.

I did have a full Internet dropout today for about an hour. The iMac Pro wasn't on during the Internet Dropout (completely shut down), but the sign in prompt happened after my Internet dropout and restore.

I am familiar with Wireshark/packet captures if I need to do any tests with them. I'll have to figure out how to enable Port Mirroring on the UDM Pro if it's needed (last time I did one it was on a Cisco router), but I could do some tests simulating an Internet dropout while running Wireshark if that would be useful.

Thanks for the update! I'll see if I can perform some simulated tests of Internet dropouts and see what happens. We're also having storms coming up, so I'm probably going to lose Internet again coming up. :-)
