I'd love to hear (or see) how people use Logos Notes so I can get some ideas.
Any methods for linking notes with the bible or other resources, even highlighting methods.
Welll..... I'm not an expert... other to being a human. But here is how I use Notes in Logos....
1. I stopped linking Notes to a reference (i.e. a chapter-verse) because Logos puts the Icon to the verse where ever Logos wants to put it. Instead, I now link all Notes to the first word of the chapter-verse passage. That way all my Notes Icons appear have the chapter-verse number. Which I like. (it's some form of standardization for me). I wish I could designate all my Notes Icons be at the end of the passage.... but that's not happening right now.
2. I have a system for categorizing all my Notes into Notebooks and all Notes appear in some Notebook. For example.... My Notebooks are: People, Apologetics, Soteriology, Eschatology, etc. And I have many Notebooks.
3. Every Note has a minimal of one or more tags. I "tag" a Note with as many "tags" as to make it easy to find. I do try to make the "tags" relevant to the context of the passage the note is linked to.
4. I have Notes on verses, Notes on words within a verse, Notes on groups of verses, Notes on each book of the bible, etc.
5. While Logos has not seen fit to make it easy to link Notes (or as some say, "chain Notes")... I use a system as follows.... Each Note has the following....
A. A title line to describe the Note.
B. A body to fully explain why I wrote the Note.
C. Links to "Next:" and "Prev:" notes... if they are in a series or chained (like for studying or a class, etc) for example... Note on 1 Corinthian 6:19... about "indwelling of the Holy Spirit"...
Title: Study Chain on Indwelling of Holy Spirit - 1Co 6:19.
Body... about the context of the verse and how it fits into the indwelling and any other notes I might have about the passage.
Next: Prev: I have explored with Next: and Prev: 2 ways.
A. I have gone to the "next" Note in the series and copied the L4 reference of the Note title and then used the "link reference" to enter the L4 reference into the word Next:. I have done that also with the "Prev:". I do this when there are no bible reference for the Next: and Prev:.
B. Where my Note has a Next biblical reference, I use an abbreviation of the book, chapter, verse to show that for both "Next:" and "Prev:" For example.... in the note for 1Co 6:19, Next: might show "Next: 2Co 1:22" as the next reference of study in the "series" or "study chain" for me.
6. On top of this.... I maintain a Sermon file... whereby I have all my "Topics" or "Categories" listed with the First Note reference listed as follows:
----- Holy Spirit - Indwelling --- 1Co 6:19.
Then once I get to that first note in the "study chain" I can use "Next:" and "Prev:" to proceed through the rest of the "study chain". The last Note in the "study chain" will have "Next: End" which tells me I have reached the end of that particular study.
It all seems complicated.... but I find it works very smooth once you set things up right with each Note and stay with standard form.
And I know there may be better ways to do what I do.... I am open to learning them!!!
Hope this helps.... [8-|]
Thanks! there's some good ideas, I now need to figure out how to link notes!
Thanks for sharing experience - gives me some ideas as well [:)]
A comment/question: What I have seen is that when I link a note to a word or some words the Note (and highlight as well) will be related to that particular book. Lets say you use NIV - then these Notes are marked only in NIV, and not in another translation - lets say NKJV... In order to have these linked to the verse in the Bible regardless the translation (including eg greek text) then i mark the whole verse (two-finger tap on my Mac/ double-tap on my iPad). This will mark the whole verse and I attach the note to it. You will see where its linked in the "anchor" filed. I'd really loved to attach notes to words, but seeing my linked notes regardless Bible translation is more valuable to me. Particularly because my native language is Norwegian and I read the Norwegian Bible, and study the English....
Then a tip. I use the anchors for notes and highlighting a lot. Often when something is pulling my interest and I make a note about it, I start to look for next/previous verses that correspond to this. And using more anchors let me have the same note linked to a multitude of verses. Thus I dont need to make next/previous and I will have all summed up in one note. I prefer this as I might organise the text from my liking in whatever order/ bullet points I might prefer...

The main link occurs when you create a Note in a bible. Use the Anchors to link the note to another book
The same Note in a Reverse Interlinear (RI) bible is shared with another RI bible via the Visual Filter > Notes and Highlights (Corresponding) in its toolbar.
