How to build the best system with ikons, colours and tags for Notes

Hi!
I am new to Logos and have just invested in a Silver Package. I intend to use highlighting and particularly Notes a lot. I see there are loads of possibilities regarding colours, ikons etc to be used here and so I might go pretty wild if I like...

I'm sure there are power users that for years have build a system for themselves using the features available... And now I urge some of you to share your experience with me (and others?) so I dont have to invent the gun powder over agin 😁

I am considering something like: Yellow ikons for notes regarding The Holy Spirit. Green for Life with Christ... Triangle for God or triunity... But I frankly dont know where to start 🙄

What is your best use of colours, ikons, tags to build a system helping you organising your notes?

And if this topic has already been covered - please direct me 🙏

I'll share some of what I use, it's not mine originally ... I don't remember where I got it. But I have used it for years.

Yellow = Salvation.

Lite Blue = Last things.

Dark Blue = Church.

Red = Man, Sin.

Lite green = Old Testament.

Dark Green = Law

Denominationalism = Pink.

And I find with digital bibles.... it is better for me to underline the passage in a color underline than to color all the words of the passage.

Just to clarify, Note icons in the Notes tool are fixed, together with their colour, but you can always use a Highlighting style in place of the icon colour.

The standard Highlighting Palettes provide some guidance for styles (colours/symbols), but you can use other users Palettes via Documents > Public. Type Palette to narrow the choice (you can delete them if not suitable).

Tags are not shareable in this way, but the style names from shared Palettes may be useful and other users may list theirs

But you should first think about how you want to group your Notes, using Notebooks.

Thanks! I will take this with me when I research the issue further.
What I have in mind is something more complex - a wide use of colors, ikons etc in order to build a system that might help me in years to come.

Such a system will take time to build and I will have to make one that suits me and my needs... But having a head start from others could speed me up in this process.

The relationship between icon and colour is not clear e.g. with which icon is Black-Diversity used, when it would seem that Orange-The Ministry is used with the Ministry- Go Out icon. Have you considered Inductive/Precept styles to convey the note type (you can modify the palette after duplicating it) and using the Icon to modify/classify it e.g. use Question mark Icon to indicate doubt, use Scissor Icon to indicate evil, use the Cross icon to indicate good/? One icon could be applied to several note types.

Thanks Dave! I am totally aware that what I uploaded is far from good - that's why I posted it [:)] I try to make me a system that will work in years to come. Simple enough to be used, advanced enough to give is needed.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with all the terms you used so I would greatly appreciate if you could explain a bit... consider me a child/newbie [;)] Practical examples might help [:)] I will appreciate all the help I might get - and I do not consider comments as critics.

I guess a good system might come very handy for a lot of users - not just me!

I created a Note in ESV Ex 4:21 by selecting some text:

When the Notes tool opened, I made some changes:

chose the Star icon and colour from the Note Icon menu.

the Star indicates this is significant (to me).

chose the God style from the Inductive/Precept palette by scrolling the Highlight Style menu.

it is appropriate as an act/command of God

If you create another Note, it will use the same icon and highlight.

So you could build a system of Notes from the supplied Inductive/Precept palette. But:

right-click the Palette name in the Highlighting tool
select Duplicate
rename the new palette.

Then you can modify any of the styles, create new ones, delete ones you don't want and you have your system for Notes!

You might also add Tag(s) to each note e.g. Command God (two tags) or God-Command (one tag)

Now you can:

select all Notes with those tags in the Notes tool
search for mytag:God-Command in the Search > Docs > Notes tool.
search for highlight:God in Search > Bible i.e. find the highlight in your bible(s).

use highlight:MyNotes/God if you used your own palette called "MyNotes".

Summary:

The Notes icon is visually useful, so use them consistently
The highlight style and name are probably the core of your Notes system, but
The tag values are equally important - reflecting the Highlighting style name and:

the application of a Note icon; OR
a qualification of the style name e.g. God-Command

Try to avoid multiple highlight styles for God (for example) and just use tags as indicated above i.e.

avoid a God Love style and a God Command style

This seems to be really interesting - its another approach than I considerred until now, but I see advantages and I look forward to test this!

However I am still interested in how you and others are organizing the big part of your notes and highlights. What categories you have and how you use them [:D]

This is my color code system that I use.

Gold: God
Navy: Sin, evil
Red: Jesus
Orange: washed clean from sin, new life
Green: growth in your new life as a Christian and Faith Walk
Blue: Prayer, Praise and Thanksgiving
Purple: Heaven
Brown: Animals
Teal: Family
Tangerine: Love
