Notes and bible verse display
Hi Logos community,
I often create a highlight of a bible verse and include some tags to filter. When I click within the notes tab, I only see the notes and the bible verse reference. But I don‘t see the Bible verse itself. I always have to click on the link and the Bible opens in a separate windows, which is annoying.
Is there any way to directly display the Bible verse in the notes tab?

Hi, is this again a mobile issue? Why is only the anchor been displayed and not the Bible verse itself?
During Bible study and notes search this is really annoying on my iPad.

Hi Logos community, I found out that the web version on my iPad shows the Bible verse. Why is this not visible in the iPad mobile app?
Do I miss anything?

I have no idea, but the Bible text for the anchor is not visible in the desktop version as well (unless you hover over it):

On the iPad this is much better solved in the browser. Even on the left hand side you see the note with the Bible verse.
In the mobile app on my iPad I see nothing. The left hand side only shows the Bible book and verse number. The right hand side (detail of the note) shows the anchor, but also only the Bible book and verse number.
Again a disadvantage for using Logos only with the mobile app on the iPad.
How do you use the notes app on the iPad?

Seems like a simple pop-up would be perfect here. (I agree that the open-it-in-a-new-tab functionality (or worse, take over an existing Bible tab!) is not good.

Exactly. I would prefer the view as in the webapp.
You make a note to a bible verse. I always give them tags. When I search for the tag or the note on my mobile app, I only see the bible book and verse number. In many cases I don‘t know the Bible verse itself. Then I click on it, it opens in a new tab…
This is inconvenient.
We will see. I currently see that this is the state-of-art and I cannot change it.

I use Logos very intensively on the iPad. I create most of my notes on the iPad. Why should I copy the Bible text into the note text? In most cases, I search for a note using the current Bible text. You are obviously using the filter function.
Overall, the functionalities on the iPad version are the worst supported compared to the desktop version and the web version. This is actually a shame, as the iPad is best suited for reading texts.Best regards from Germany to Germany ;-)

I agree. I think the suggestion of a "pop up" of the bible verse would be excellent! [8-|]

Hi community, I found out something very interesting. Please check the first image. As you can see, the Bible verse is exactly displayed in the anchor as I wished.
How did I do this? Funny thing.
The note is from 1. Corinthians 6:12. In my German Bible there is a headline before the verse. When I double click on the verse, Logos automatically highlight the whole verse including the headline… Why… I don‘t know.
So the only thing that I did was, I excluded the headline and only highlighted or marked the actual verse. Then I created a note and there we go.
I tested it with other verses, without a headline. Here the strange thing is: when Logos automatically marks a whole verse, I need to exclude one letter in the highlight and the Bible verse is displayed in the Notes section. This is not a favorable solution, but maybe something Logos can work with to improve this.
My result is that when Logos automatically select a whole verse, only the Bible book, chapter and verse number is displayed. But when I select a part of a verse, or even the whole verse without one letter, the verse is displayed in the notes section.
My request is that when Logos automatically highlight a complete verse it will be displayed in the notes section.
Can you follow my thoughts?
Any comments from the Logos team?

The difference you are seeing is because - with one letter missing - the note is being created against the portion of text and not the verse itself. And so the anchor is that portion of text instead of the verse number.
And it is the anchor that is shown in the note header.
So making the change you suggest would actually be quite a significant change to the way in which anchors are recognised - which would have a knock on effect as to whether they are visible in other resources - such as commentaries.

Hi Graham, I understand your point with the anchor.
But, why is this visible within the Webapp (see image)? So the functionality is available. It has to be implemented into the mobile version.

I‘ve just checked in the web app and, for my notes, all that is displayed in the anchor field is the portion of text that is highlighted - whether it is a single word or most / all of the verse.
Are you sure that is not what is happening in the web app example you refer to above?

I have a lot of underlining “notes” in / anchored to my standard bible (EÜ).
Is there a way of bulk-edit them to get rid of the attached translation or has all to be erased and re-anchored without said translation manually?

No - it is not possible to bulk-edit them in this way.
What were you hoping to achieve?

Hi community,
I found again an interesting option in the web app. Within the settings of the note you can choose to display only the anchor or the whole anchor text (See picture, language is German). This is exactly what I want to have on mobile. I want to display the whole anchor text (in most cases the Bible verse and not only the anchor itself).
So the functionality is available within the web app, but not on mobile. Again, very sad. I need to look for a workaround…again.
