Logos Pro (early access) licences

As an early access subscriber, I'd been wondering what benefits might flow to me after the initially-added features. So I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from Logos Communications stating:

“Thank you for your early support of Logos Pro! To show our gratitude, we’re giving you permanent ownership of the resources that would have otherwise been removed.” This appeared to refer to a collection of additional books that were added to my library on May 16 (Collection Value: $319.68US.)

However, when I checked my library for the License status of these resources/books, I noted that they are all still described as having a "Temporary" license.

I have queried Logos about this, but so far, no reply.

Anyone else had this experience?

I saw this as well and was stumped. I eventually settled on "permanent ownership" either not being the same as permanent license, or this is just another one of their badly communicated messages.

That's helpful, Scot. I wonder if it's documented anywhere on the website, or whether anyone has had it confirmed in an email, rather than just verbally?

This was the response to my email inquiry.

"Dear Scot,

Thank you for contacting us. Since you still have the Logos Pro subscription on your account, the library will show those as temporary. However, if the Logos Pro subscription is canceled or not auto-renewed, the licenses will stay in your account as permanent licenses. We hope this clear the confusion.

On May 16 I received two commentary series worth $US566 (25% off sale price) and 6 other books worth $US105 i.e. about $860 (regular price).

At the risk of adding more confusion, I got the impression that DAL was asking about the original email from Logos, the one saying "Your Subscription Library Got an Upgrade"; it seems like he (and other subscribers) didn't receive that email. Or I may be way off.

Hi everyone, we’re glad to hear you’re enjoying Logos Pro – and sorry for any confusion.

To answer a few questions from this thread:

When we shipped the early access subscription, many of you told us you wanted more modern books than we originally included. Last week, we adjusted the early access library, replacing many older books with newer ones.

But some subscribers had already been paying for those older books, so rather than taking away those books altogether, we wanted to show our gratitude to those customers by giving them permanent ownership of the books we removed. So if you were paying for Logos Pro before May 15 (and not still in the free trial), the books no longer included in the Logos Pro library are now yours to keep. When you open your library, you can filter by License, and you should see titles like Lange’s Commentary on the Holy Scriptures: 1 & 2 Chronicles listed under Permanent.

You can find when your subscription started by looking at your recent order history. The date you see there is when your paid subscription started.

If you think you should have received the email about unlocked resources but didn’t, you can check a couple of things:

Make sure the email didn’t go to spam.
See if the resources are listed as permanent in your library.
Verify you weren’t on a free trial on May 15, when the change was made. If you don’t see your early access subscription on the order history page, you were on a free trial.

Thank you, Mark, for the explanation. That brings a lot of clarity. As far as the users who had been paying for those books, in my estimation they paid between $10-$20, which is a pretty sweet ROI. If the intention was primarily to show gratitude, which seems to be the case, then it was indeed a nice gesture for those who jumped on board early enough. I have no qualms about the situation, though I didn't receive any free resources. I am, however, interested to see what official perks will be offered with the subscription going forward. One thing I am hoping for are credits toward incremental purchases of non-AI features for continued use in the event of a subscription interruption.

Thanks for clarifying. The list of of books removed explains why I saw no temp licenses turned into permanent ones - I already owned all of these books. But this is a great gesture overall👍🏽
