Yes, I got "fed up" with Logos/Verbum today because of its heavy emphasis on grammatical-historical criticism which for laity not fluent in the original languages and their cognates I label the "how to study scripture and never challenge your beliefs" method. I am tired of pointing out that many Christians are used to juxtaposition scripture against scripture to glean genuinely new insights - sometimes academically unjustified but well supported in the realm of God leading you to hear what you need to hear. (What I call God using the scripture as a springboard for what you need.) I am tired of Logos leading me down a path of scripture as grammatical-syntactic puzzle and want Logos to support reading of scripture as God's love letter to his adopted child.
- Please allow guides to support multiple scriptures - think, perhaps, of the main workspace turned into multiple tabs so one can flip workspaces quickly from one passage to another
- Please allow workflows to handle multiple passages, non-Biblical texts, and the fine arts
- Please make the questions&answer feature useful by including the questions from study & discussion guides that don't have supplied answers ... and that may link multiple scriptures together, or link creeds to scripture, etc.
- Please in your handling of "data (tags)" include links to the scripture in its native habitat i.e. liturgy, church documents, church fathers
- Please in you handling of scripture context include parallels in para-Biblical literature, cultural reference books (yes, the cultural concepts tagging is a first and welcome step in this direction), the flow of the book, the position in the salvation history, the use of the passage in the fine arts (think Milgrom's visual midrash)
- Please encourage rhetorical and form analysis, traditional interpretative techniques - Jewish and Christian, visualizations of passages, narrative analysis -- things that will help me see a passage in a new light in ways that grammatical analysis cannot.
In short, please expand the methods supported to include scripture as I encounter it daily in church, as I encounter it as God's love letter in personal study, and as I encounter it in the world at large e.g. in the arts. Please constantly challenge my beliefs and my behavior. I have been waiting since Logos 2 and the progress has been very, very minimal.
End of rant ... today has been particularly frustrating
