Layout Adjusting

I'm trying to adjust my layout, and it's not allowing me to. I'm trying to adjust the portion where I have a yellow arrow shown, and trying to adjust it to the left around a third of the way over the bible text panel, but it doesn't budge at all. I was wanting to open other panels next to the info box. Is this possible? Perhaps just not yet? Is it able to be done in the Windows version currently?

Are you trying to make a "small" adjustment? ie, Just dragging it to the left or right light 1/4" or so? I have to drag it to the left or right by a large amount like an inch or more. I haven't been able to finely adjust the layout, it moves in large amounts for me.

I've tried little and large. It won't move at all. Between the passage guide and bible text does move, but not the side of bible text and information.

The panels on that side are in what's called the sidebar (it's not visually very distinct yet, but if you look closely, you'll see that there's a larger gap between those panels and the rest of the window).

Sidebar panels can be resized vertically but have a fixed width; in a later alpha, they'll also have a streamlined toolbar and tab bar. If you would prefer to have greater flexibility in how these panels are sized, you can drag them into the main area of the window. Once the sidebar is empty, it'll disappear.

If you grab the tab and reset (drag and drop) it into another space (this can actually be the space it currently resides in) it will allow you to adjust its width. For some reason certain tools open by default in a certain region and at a fixed width while others do not. The "Information" tab is one example of this.

It's an odd workaround I know but dragging the panel until you see the blue drop zones and then placing it into one of those zones will remove the restrictions of the default position and width for that panel.

Great! I was able to move them to the main side and then adjust. That brings up another question though, why even have a "fixed width" sidebar? Is there an extra benefit to keeping it in the sidebar?

Another question, am I able to run the passage guide from the homepage, but it then open up my designed layout? I just tried it, and it changed the layout. How do I make my layout the default? or can I yet?

For some reason certain tools open by default in a certain region and at a fixed width while others do not.

The tools that open in the sidebar are ones that have been designed to fit at a constrained width and are typically the sorts of things you may want to have open and easily accessed throughout your study.

A few examples (off the top of my head) are Information, Copy Bible Verses, Text Comparison, Explorer, Favorites, History and Pronunciation.

If you really don't like the sidebar and you never want certain tools to show up there, you can either create a layout with this configuration in place or type "Show X in Main Window" (where X is the name of a tool that you want to open) in the command bar.

Entering a passage in the home page opens our default Bible study layout; if you'd like to use your own layout, I'd stay away from that field and navigate one of the panels in your layout instead—if that panel is linked with others, they'll navigate, too, so it's not much more effort than typing a reference in the home page.

As I mentioned before I saw this post, the sidebar panels are designed to fit a constrained width—by limiting their size in the window, it leaves more room for interesting content like books and guides.

Unless I'm misremembering it, this is not a feature on the Windows product, nor is it planned for Mac (although if it is available on Windows, we'll be doing it, too…).

With that being the case, I would suggest also having the ability to drag a Layout to the Shortcut Bar.

I understand that there is a fixed width for some sidebars. After I move the sidebar to a different location. I can't move the other window or the window does not expand over to the empty space. For example ...

Any suggestions how I can move that over?

Wonder about clicking on the line, which you want to drag ? After clicking, the pointer can change so can drag desired line.

Observation: the previous posts in this thread date back to Logos 4 Mac Alpha pre-releases.

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. I use Logos 4 and keep it updated. Under about, my version says: Logos Bible Software 4.6 SR-2 (4.60.0.3010). My computer is relatively new Dell running on Windows 7.

Curious about a screen shot to illustrate which borders do not resize. Caveat: Logos 4 resizing on Mac and PC has finite choices so dragging a border jumps from choice to choice.

What panels is it you can't resize? The fixed width ones that open to the sides (Information, Highlighting etc)? If so, that's not a bug, but an intended feature, as David explained in post 4:

Solution to this challenge; one can add a new panel to the layout in Logos 4 by dragging a book from favorites or any other place into the location one desires to create a new panel. Then one can adjust the margins. The margins on the top, right, left and bottom do not resize. Thanks to Logos for their help in solving this problem. I still love the old Libronix system better. I wish I could download some of my new purchases there. I often work with both the Logos 4 and Libronix open at the same time, which is a great benefit.

One idea is dragging another resource to split a panel since the split lines can be dragged to resize.

I still love the old Libronix system better. I wish I could download some of my new purchases there. I often work with both the Logos 4 and Libronix open at the same time, which is a great benefit.

One option in Libronix 3.0g is synchronizing licenses plus downloadintg resource files from Logos ftp site => ftp://ftp.logos.com/LbxBooks/

Nice, so how do I find out what the Libronix number is for an item. The older items have that and it is easy to do. But say, I just purchased a whole bunch of Isaiah commentaries under an order number 2067918. I don't believe any recent stuff like that is found in the FTP site. Right?

In Logos 4, open the resource, then click on (I) for information, then scroll down to support info. Logos 4 resources end in *.logos4 while Libronix ones end in *.lbxlls

In April 2012, Logos stopped creating Libronix resources. Logos resources that were available for sale before April were also available in Libronix with the notable exceptions of the Perseus collections and Vryso eBooks. Since April 2012, newly created Logos resources are NOT available for Libronix.
