Explorer - Layout

In setting up my Layout, I was wanting to have Explorer already opened in one of my panels, but what I don't want it to do is to "automatically start looking up a passage." I want it to open up and stay not in use, until I type in a reference. I even tried opening Explorer without any layouts open, no links, nothing else opened, and yet it still starts looking up a passage, which slows down performance when I'm not even wanting it to search for the passage. Are there any work arounds for this, so Explorer doesn't start searching?

I think the simplest workaround is not to open it until you need it. After all, it's only two clicks away. [;)]

It can be just one click away, if you put it to your toolbar. Or, you can keep it opened but click the little arrows to close the sections you don't want to be looked up automatically and open it by clicking to that little arrow only when you want to see the results in the section.

Alternatively, if you'd like the Explorer to follow just one of your Bibles (or Commentaries), set that book and the Explorer panel to the same link set.

I already tried that, but when I re-loaded the layout, it still started searching a passage. Unless I'm saving the layout wrong, it gets confusing sometimes. Sometimes I think I'm saving the layout, but then when I go back to it, it does a different layout. How do I confirm that the way my active windows are being shown is the way it's going to be when I save the layout? How do I save the layout? I've just been renaming a layout and then pushing enter, sometimes it looks like it works, other times it seems slightly off track.

It's been a long time since I've looked at any layout code, but try this: set the link set on your explorer panel, then make a couple of more substantial changes to your layout (like opening or closing panels), then save your layout.
