Can the Logos Desktop Tagging Functionality be Tweaked to Match the Mobile App?
Colleagues:
Tagging is an important part of my workflow in Logos; I tag each note extensively when I first create it, and then add/subtract tags as I revisit the note over time. Comparing the desktop and mobile apps’ tagging functionality, there are two areas where I believe the mobile app has advantages when I add pre-existing tags to a note. Would it be possible to add the mobile app’s functionality in these two areas into the desktop app? Alternately, is there a program setting that I'm just not aware of?
Display of existing tags
The mobile app displays a list of all existing tags in alphabetical order. Adding an existing tag to a note is simply a matter of scrolling to the tag and selecting it. The format of the tag list never changes; every tag is always visible. The desktop app also displays a list of tags in the faceted browsing menu, however adding a tag to a note in the desktop app causes the tag menu to collapse. Since the tags are listed in order of numerical frequency, this forces me to restart at the beginning of the tag list and try to remember where I was in the list. Is it possible to change the desktop app so the tag list stays open and stationary at whatever point I am in the tag list?
Tag Display Logic

This is a fictitious example just for illustration. Let’s say I have 5 existing tags about peace:
Peace in the north
Peace in the south
Peace in the east
Peace in the west
World peace
In the mobile app’s tag selection list, I can type “peace” and all 5 tags will be displayed. The desktop app will not display that last tag, presumably because “peace” is not the first word of the tag. I have several tags where the word order makes sense to me, but the desktop app will not display the tag as a choice for selection. For example, I use these two tags:
Sufficiency of Christ
Scriptural sufficiency
If I type “suff” in the mobile app tag search, both tags are shown as options. In the desktop app, only “Sufficiency of Christ” is shown as an option. As above, could the desktop app’s logic be changed to match the mobile app?
It’s certainly possible for me to define all of my tags knowing that the desktop app will search only on the first word of the tag. I can also edit and re-enter tags so the desktop app will find them. But… since the mobile app is working so well in this area, I thought I’d ask the question.
Thank you!

Where necessary you must make a suggestion.

There are others when you type a Title of "tags in notes".

In the mobile app’s tag selection list, I can type “peace” and all 5 tags will be displayed. The desktop app will not display that last tagI could not reproduce that:
Moreover, I can perform a Docs Search for mytag:peace and it finds all three tags.Michael Ransom said:Sufficiency of Christ

Are you on Mac?

Dave: thank you for your reply. Just to clarify, I was referring to attaching new tags to a note, not searching for tags. I agree with you - using mytag: works great to search for notes with specific tags already attached to them. I entered all 5 "peace" tags in a test note, and then tried to add "world peace" to a second note. Here is the result; "world peace" is not shown as a tag choice.
Going back to my "suff" example, the desktop app displays only one tag choice - "Sufficiency of Christ"- when I want to attach a new tag to a note, when in fact I know there are two tags that meet the "suff" criteria. See the screen shot below:
And just to give a complete picture, the mobile app will display all 5 tags, including "world peace". Please ignore the tag "Peace" with 29 instances - that's an actual tag, not part of the test.
I'm using the latest version of Logos 10 on a 2024 M2 Macbook Air running Sonoma 14.5.
Thanks for pointing out the process for feature requests. I will read the links you attached. I appreciate all of the help you have sent my way in my journey with Logos.

I understand now.

Desktop only shows tags beginning with a word e.g. "peace" (and it omits a tag already used in the note)..Create a Suggestion to imitate the behaviour of the mobile app.

"Suffering" is present in your screenshot.

Dave: I upvoted an existing suggestion about the tag search function, and I added a new suggestion about keeping the tag filter menu expanded when adding new tags to a note.

Thanks again for your guidance.
