Questions about how to search and filter highlights in Logos 10

Hello, everyone! I am trying to figure out a system that is as simple as possible so as to be sustainable. One thing I am trying is highlighting things I find interesting/valuable as I read them without trying to put them into a notebook/folder.

My question: If I subsequently want to go back and do a Books search on all highlights (i.e. highlight:*) and then want to filter down to works from a specific author AND in a particular type of book AND in a specific book of scripture (i.e. all my highlights from all commentaries on the Gospel of John, or all of my highlights from D.A. Carson, but only in scripture commentaries, as opposed to monographs or other types of books), is there a way to do that?

The only way I seem to be able to do it right now is either "highlight + author" or "highlight + book type" but not both - and I don't see an easy way to say, for example, search only my highlights from commentaries on the Gospel of John.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I would like to be able to do this as well. Hopefully you will find a better methodology. I do not like using the notebooks and folders way. It is very clunky and hard to grasp.

You can use a milestone search to help with this - and then group the books by either author or type

This isn't restricting the search to a particular author or book type - but is an easy way to filter down to them

To actually restrict it, you can click the Your Books link and then filter by type or author (or other fields) and select the required option from the dropdown menu

Christian, I owe my Pastor Tanner a major shout-out for this video; while I was already realizing that I needed a more sustainable way to not let the process get in the way of just immersing myself in material, his explanation of the "lazy way" of doing highlights really helped me realize that if a workflow doesn't flow, it's not sustainable (at least for me).

With the solution Graham shared below, I am now feeling much better about being able to filter down through content and rediscover it when I want/need to, but not have to obsess over making sure I haven't misplaced something in a folder somewhere. I hope this might be helpful to others out there.

    You can simplify the query:

I entered Exodus into "All Passages" and chose type:bible instead of type:commentary
