I'm not fond of the new subscription format, but there's nothing I can do besides subscribe or not subscribe. At this point, in weighing the pros and cons, I'm finding very little of the former. Answers to the following questions would help in my decision making process.
- How long is the early access price for Logos 10 Full Feature Set owners going to be available?
- If the subscription is not going to stay the same price after the first year, what kind of increase is being considered?
- How many and what kind of offline features are planned going forward compared to AI and cloud based features?
- With the Legacy Fallback License, do I keep all current offline features if I cancel my subscription after 24 months, or only the features that have been released for at least 24 months of my subscription?
In regards to #1 above, with no interest in AI features, nor in renting books curated by another, the early access price isn't a bargain. It's paying ahead for 12 months in the hopes that something of value to me will materialize in the future.
#2 will have a big impact on renewing beyond the initial 12 months. If the price seems too high for the value received, cancelling at that point will leave me with nothing to show as I haven't yet reached the 24 month continual subscription to retain any offline features that may be released over that 12 month period.
#3 The value of a Legacy Fallback License hinges on this, and unless I'm mistaken, nothing new in the subscription at this point is offline, it's all AI and cloud based.
#4 Again, the value of a Legacy Fallback License hinges on this too. If I only keep the offline features that have been released and subscribed to for 24 months, it's a dangling carrot. Anything released for 23 months or less wouldn't count unless I renew the subscription, and on it would go. Please clarify this.
Please understand, I love Logos 10. I had plans to purchase the Logos 11 full feature set when it came out and to continue to build my library. Logos has completely changed the way I study, and I'm very thankful for it. But the subscription model using AI, cloud based features, and book rentals changes so much on the path to those studies. I would like a clear picture of what the future looks like to help me make an informed decision. If any of this has already been clarified and I missed it, my apologies. It's been challenging to keep up with all the related threads.
