BUG: Fresh Logos 10 Install, No Minimal Resources Download

On a fresh installation of Logos, on sign-in, the program gives me a choice of

Quick Install: ~54G download
Everything: ~59G download

Both choices are bad!

Where is Minimal? I have a backup of resources from another laptop, which could be used according to Method 3 of Quick Installation onto multiple computers

Months back, I also wanted the 'almost nothing' but all it offered was curated (no thank you), and everything. I guess, now even worse!

To get almost nothing, there was a trick to it, which I forgot but worked. Cancel the choice and restart or similar.

I have a backup of resources from another laptop, which could be used according to Method 3 of Quick Installation onto multiple computers

But it won't allow a minimal install by itself as it has to be done with a specific installation choice.

Select which resources to download – Logos Help Center

    Minimal was an option?

You responded to my post, Lee, but I was not disputing that Minimal is an option. Did you try scrolling the list of choices because I seem to remember that it was initially hidden.

With tech support's help I did a workaround (interrupted download on Step 2), so I can't go back.

Unfortunately, I did not manage to see the Minimal option at all. I used the arrow keys, and only had those two options.

    Reviving an old thread:

I had a 10GB install on my Windows computer. I want to do a minimal install on this computer to save Hard Drive (SSD) space. I uninstalled Logos, downloaded and ran the installer. I switched to "No" the Download New Books and Automatically start Downloads options in the Program settings.

It shows 36.8 GB of updates available, but I think there is some residual file in my default directory with the OLD index/preferences.

If I click on any resource in the Library pane, a panel opens with "The resource hasn't been downloaded yet, but here's a preview" [which is expected[ but there is a button that shows "downloading" with a spinning circle even though I did not request to download this resource.

    I never got this option:

Is there a way to TOTALLY delete all evidence of a previous install on this Windows10 computer so I can do a Minimal Install?

10 GB is nearly minimal, why did you not Remove unwanted resources from Library?

Delete the Logos folder after uninstalling i.e. delete %localappdata%\Logos.

Select a Custom install, but leave Download New Books = YES as you would want to receive new books and updated books after the installation.

Note that all your datasets and Interlinears will be downloaded, and they can take 8 GB with L10 Full Feature set.

Thank You Dave!!! You are a blessing to the Community!

why did you not Remove unwanted resources from Library?

I had 6500 Resources I thought fresh minimal would be quicker than selecting (sometimes I don't know what is safe to remove when it comes to datasets and documentation), and it took me some time to find the <ctrl+right click> to remove a group, and some (Bible Study Magazine Sep-Oct 2010) would not remove even after remove from device. I ended up HIDING that resource on my other installation.

they can take 8 GB with L10 Full Feature set.

    This is good to know!

For the benefit of any other users who stumble across this thread. On August 2024 I was not given a "minimal" option, only quick (currated resources) or Complete (everything I own).

You can't remove the datasets but you can remove their documentation in Library if you have no use for it.

it took me some time to find the <ctrl+right click> to remove a group,

Shift+Click is the usual way (click the first then use Shift+Click on the last).  CTRL+click will de-select one book.

some (Bible Study Magazine Sep-Oct 2010) would not remove even after remove from device.

I tried that and succeeded in removing it. When status changes to "Download" it has worked. There is a bug that sometimes delays the the sidebar Filter from showing it as "Not on this Device", and it may not be physically deleted until Logos is restarted.
