Start Up Lag
Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing a long delay for Logos to open up. I'm running the latest Logos version with the highest level subscription. I have an M2 powered MacBook 14 Pro with plenty of memory and hard drive space.
Is all this AI stuff drawing down my internet that it takes Logos a very long time to open now if I close it? I try to avoid closing it bc it takes an extremely long time for it to open and become the least bit functional.

It isn't just you Dr Ken. There was another user that noted that from start up it took 20sec for Logos to become functional. I am fortunate that it only takes 7 sec or so on my M3 MacBook Pro. Is this long start up time from 'a quit logos' or from a running logos only needing a click in the dock to open the panel?
I used to be that having a lot of collection rules, especially complicated ones slowed things down but I haven't heard much of that recently.
If you post logs one of our technical volunteers might be able to see where the hold up is. Use the paperclip in the tool bar to attach the logs to a reply.

It is when I quit it and start it up again. I've noticed in the past when Logos was slow, I'd just quit it and restart it. Now when I do so, it takes a lot longer than 20 seconds to restart.

It only took about 8 seconds on my M2 MBP with a well populated 'layout'. I do have a very fast internet connection so I can't refute your AI thoughts.

It's 20 seconds before I see the blue Logos box and a 1:38 before it opens and is functional. Sometimes I have a spinning wheel, but most of the time just the blue box and then an empty screen and finally it comes on.

Have you tried launching when disconnected from the internet? I wonder if it loads faster.

Voila! Ten seconds with Wi-Fi off and 1:20 when Wi-Fi switched back on!
So, I call my internet company and ask because a Speed Test shows plenty of speed? 340 mbs up and 11 Mbs down. Are they throttling Logos's AI or some issue with my anti-virus?Or switch off wi-fi when restarting Logos? lol

Well - IMO (and I may be a bit spoiled) those speed metrics are VERY slow. I can't speak to the upload/download demand of Logos but those numbers are definitely on the low end. As a comparison - cellular 4g (not even 5g) download speeds are 15-20 Mbps. Maybe go to a coffee shop and try it? If it's fast(er) there then maybe it's time to consider a new provider or new plan - or launch it when off the internet [:)]
Also try turning off the anti-virus to see if it helps. I've been a Mac user for YEARS and have never run anti-virus software.

Also for comparison - and I also deal with startup lag - but almost always it is when there is a download that is happening or the Preparing Library is running.
I have the same experience and very similar speeds. In general any startup lag isn't noticable unless I'm really looking for it. And, I rarely shut down Logos - unless the notification tells me to recycle to pull in new books or a new release.
I find this thread interesting. It wouldn't have even crossed my mind that Logos on startup would have been that bandwidth hungry - unless there is a download like you stated. I would have figured a few handshakes to confirm version, index updates, etc. BUT, the OPs speeds are borderline unacceptable so maybe ANY back and forth activity is exacerbated a bunch.
