Logos 10 Library now or wait until it becomes a Legacy Library (Best Price History)

Hi there. I am interested in getting a Logos 10 library which is currently has a dynamic price sale for 30% off. It will likely become a "legacy" library in the near future. When it does become a legacy library, will it become more financially affordable than what it is currently being offered? Would it make sense for me to wait? What is your experience in the past?

If you own the full feature set then you could wait for the library (just books) to become legacy libraries. The important thing right now is to make sure you own the last permanently owned Full Feature set since after this everything will be subscription.

I have not noticed in the past any legacy library discounted more than 30%.

Also, past patterns indicate that, upon launch, the previsous number packages aren't available as legacy for quite a while. In fact, it appears that no legacy packages are available at all until the new launch ages a bit.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Verbum Full Feature set? From what I can tell, for under $20 I would get a few interlinears (Latin, German) and Verbum 360 training. Doesn't seem worth it to me but maybe I am missing something.

If I search while not logged in to the web site I can still find them for sale.

Search for "Logos 9 legacy library" without the quotes.... replace 9 with 8,7,6 or 5 as appropriate. Scroll down a little bit. You should find them.

EDIT: In fact if you change the search string to "title:logos legacy library" you shouldn't need to scroll to find them and you won't need to do multiple searches.

Part of this depends on your definition of near future. Logos 9 legacy libraries didn't become available until the following June.

I do have the full features set and was just referring to getting the best price of the libraries. It seems from the responses that the current 30% off is the best price that will likely be available. I am interested in the Logos 10 Reformed Diamond (or possibly Portfolio) but price is still quite high, especially with the current Canadian dollar. I don't mind waiting another year for it to be available as a legacy but was wondering if the price then would be better or worse than the current offering.

Steve, the 30% discount is the best we've seen on Legacy Libraries (or current libraries) as far as I can remember. That means today's L10 prices are as good as it will get, legacy or not.

When new libraries (like L11) are released they usually have a 20-25% discount. Since Logos likes to reshuffle the contents of the libraries each new release, the new libraries will not be the same. From your perspective they could be better or they could be worse. However, if you like one of the L10 libraries, now is the time to act. You'll then have the dynamic pricing on whatever the L11 libraries are.

If you plan to go the subscription way, I'd at least consider getting the L10 Full Feature upgrade at its discounted price.

I already have the full feature set and would highly recommended purchasing it now before it is too late. My understanding is once it is gone, it will never be available to own in the future.

Personally, as we are seeing the biggest change in many years in the Logos business model, I would not assume anything from the past about anything. If the emphasis is on subscription, would it be possible that Legacy libraries would be withdrawn? Maybe so, maybe not... we would probably get some warning on withdrawing legacies, but there is no way to presently tell whether L10 will ever join their ranks.

I am not promoting FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), but I think features are no brainer. If you want a legacy or current L10 library, who knows...

Yep. I'd put that at maybe 99% chance. More accurately, you won't be able to buy features period. For a couple years at least. Of course, the 'soon' is debatable.

But regarding L10, and legacy libraries, I agree with Donovan ... and demanding the future look like the past is a bit unfair to Faithlife. They're a business.
