How do I search two copies and keep one opened to the original page without moving as well?

Right Click on the tab and choose duplicate.

    A second copy will open.

You should be able to scroll/change locations in one resource without the second moving as well, as long as you have not chosen to place both of them in the same linked set.

EDIT: You might also need to choose "Send Hyperlinks Here" in the panel menu for the second copy as well.

Scrolling isn't the issue. Hyperlink seems to not do it. HOWEVER, a while ago I followed Morris Proctor's example on hyperlinking several resources together with one resoure (ESV) being the hyperlink target. That works.

The below layout is from Proctor. Maybe you can see what I'm doing wrong. But the Proctor layout works.

Are hyperlinks only for Scripture references?

No - but I don't really understand what problem you are having.

Can you provide a bit more detail please?

    I hope this makes sense.

    Yes - thanks

Page numbers can't be the subject of send hyperlink here.

But try right-clicking the page number, selecting the link option and then open link

(I don't have the same resource but this, hopefully, shows what I mean)

That "sort of" works. If I follow your example to a "T" and select "OPEN LINK" that will open the 'link' or page in that copy of the book and not another.

However, if I select "OPEN LINK IN A NEW TAB" that will keep my original Index page at the same spot and open a new copy to that page number.

However, each time I right-click a new page number, and select 'Open link in a new tab' another copy of the same resource will open. Essentially, if I click on six different page numbers I will have six different pages open, but in that same resource.

But, your suggestion is miles further than where I was originally. Did I follow your example correctly?

Did you have “send hyperlinks here“ set in the second copy when using “Open Link”?

    Milkman,

Graham is correct in that the page link will not function with "Send Links Here" option turned on.

(I found the Heiser book you are trying to use and tested on that.)

    Here is a work around.

Leave a blank space open on your workspace where you would have put the second copy.

Then left click, hold the mouse button down, and drag the link to the empty space where you want the second copy.

This "Should" open the link for you there.

The only drawback is you will need to manually close that second panel each time. Or, close them all at the same time once you are finished following those links.

    Yes to the "send hyperlinks."

    This is my process.

    1. Both resources are open. Left side is open to "8 New Testament"

    2. Right side is open to a duplicate with "send hyper links here."

    3. On the left copy I right-click 624. Then, select "open link." When I do that, my left page copy opens and the right copy which is "linked" stays the same.

    4. Again, on the left copy I right-click 624.Then, select "open link in a new tab" that will open another copy but to page 624.

    5. If I repeat step 4, ANOTHER copy will open. Now I'll have 5 same resources open.

However, the copy that is marked "send links here" doesn't change.

Well, that works great. Just click and drag and then close. [Y]

I'm glad that it worked for you.

That was a Morris Proctor trick that I picked up when he was showing how to follow a FactBook link without loosing your original place.
