Crashing when opening timeline (Mac)

When trying to open a Timeline (e.g. Old Testament prophets) Logos freezes then crashes.  I believe I've attached the logs.

I'm running a Mac mini M2 which is generally lightening fast for Logos.

Any suggestions?

    This is a known issue.

Back in February i spent several hours with Diego from tech support remotely on my iMac. He confirmed it was a known issue and at that time could not be solved, but he opened a ticket for the issue.

Since that time more than 2 months ago, repeated emails to Diego have gone unanswered.

Diego told me that the information in the 8 timeline resources could all be accessed via the newer Advanced Timeline feature, but he could not show me or tell me how to do so, but promised that support would contact me about how to do so. Months have gone by and i have received no such help or information.

These are the 8 timeline resources that can not be accessed without crashing Logos on a MAC computer:

You can find them by entering type:timeline in the Library 'find' box

The others are: (accessing the information pane to get the relevant info crashes Logos), so here are the remaining 6 titles:

    Intertestamental Period Timeline

    Israel's Judges Timeline

    Israel's Kings Timeline

    New Testament Books Timeline

    Old Testament Books Timeline

    Old Testament Prophets Timeline

Thanks for the report. I've added a link to this thread in the case we have open for this problem. We have had difficulty recreating the problem, so it's not clear yet what is causing it.

John, sorry for the lack of contact. While the individual events from those book are likely to be found in the Advanced Timeline panel, they are not going to be organized like you find in those timeline resources. There is no special way to find those events beyond searching by name or grouping using the sidebar and/or other grouping tools provided.

Andrew - thank you for picking this up so promptly.  I hope it can be resolved

John - Thank you confirming it's not just me! I've read the other thread and your experience seems pretty identical

Four more months have gone by. We are now up to version 36.1 and I've not seen or heard of any progress on this confirmed problem opening Timeline resources on Mac versions of Logos.

I'm not just going away. If you can't fix it, then please create new versions of the 8 Timeline resources which will work please.

I'm not disagreeing with your experience. But I can see why they might be having trouble recreating (Andrew's comment above).  Mine works 'ok' and each time I see your post, I kind of like the displays (from old Libby).

On mine, it opens with a blank time frame (no default).  That leads to a smashed-up visual to the left.  If I click on the 'Fit' button, it inserts a time frame and then displays correctly.

However, I notice, I open with a right-click.  If I click on the library title column, nothing happens, but it opens in a background window (doesn't switch windows).

And, the Mac touch conventions are reversed.  Two-finger results in zoom in/out; one-finger, move the view.  It's kind of wild.

But hope you keep bird-dogging it ... the timelines are quite good.

To clarify for anyone who did not read the original thread: i first reported this back in February 2024. Diego from Logos tech support remoted into my iMac and spent an hour trying many many different possible solutions. He confirmed that the problem was real, and several other Mac users who own the Timeline resources have also confirmed the problem. However, it strangely does not affect all Mac users, hence the difficulty in fixing it.

The actual problem for those who experience it, is that trying to open any of the 8 Timeline resources will completely lock up the Logos app requiring a force quit.

i'm going to keep brinigng this up every few months. I don't want Logos to stick this in a drawer and forget about it.

I am running Verbum/Mac 37 beta 1 (MacBook Pro M3 Max), and opening the 8 timelines does not lock up or crash, but I do get an odd visual if Dark Mode; Light mode is finer. See picture:

    In somewhat good news:

Today I replaced my 2020 27" iMac with a new M4 Mac mini. after getting it set up and running, I installed the 'arm' version of the desktop app, let it download and index and then tried opening the timeline resources which had crashed my intel iMac.

They all open without crashing. However, the display is very wonky and unreadable until you click on the "fit" Botton at the top of the resource, which makes it readable.

It looks better (meaning less glitchy visually) in these resources when I've selected the Light mode in Appearance than when selecting Dark mode, however it is possible to see the information in Dark mode, but the background is mangled up.
