How to customized the Home Page and remove the items under Explore.

Yes, I know this question has been asked many times over the MANY YEARS.

Is this even possible?

I have Logos Bible Study 34.1, latest version 34.1.9

For now, I have disabled using the Home Page Sad  because I have no interest in all the bloat and displayed items.  They are simply not relevant.

Why Logos refuses to provide its customers with a simple way to hide all this irrelevant content baffles me.

Please enable hiding the Explore section, thank you.

    Hi Karl,

On the right hand side of the page, in line with the 'Explore' header, at the top right of the Explore section, is a small cog. You can click that and untick what you don't need. If you untick everything, you will just be left with the header and the cog.

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you for the reply. However, my Windows Desktop application does not have this cog.

I wish it was still available.

On a PC it is still available - even with a very narrow panel, it still shows for me. Somehow, you have a corrupted installation of some sort.

You are using Verbum.  I am using Logos Bible Study on Windows Desktop, using the latest version with all updates applied.

    There is no cog available.

I just checked the Logos Web app.  https://app.logos.com/  then went to the Dashboard.  Same missing cog.

If you open the above Web App can you see the cog?

The ability to customize the content in the Explore section requires the purchase of an L8, L9, or L10 base package.

That's not right to make people upgrade $800+ for a package to get that back.

Why do you think this is $800+

It looks as though this is included in Logos Fundamentals - https://www.logos.com/product/228264/logos-10-fundamentals - at $49

That's not too bad I guess but still taking away stuff so they can make more money is wrong. I am waiting for the subscribe service they are going to have.

Truth should not be a casualty of trying to make a spurious point.

The first statement appears to be about 90% inaccurate.

With regard to the second is there any evidence that the control has been removed? I have never operated using the engine in its original state so I cannot tell.

This does not appear to be correct. I have an L8 base package and the option is not available.

    Greetings Andrew

Thanks for chipping in. I am not clear though what is not available. It might help to tell us a little about your OS and Logos version number. It is often a good idea to attach a screen shot (using the paper clip in the toolbar) even if it is to show that something isn't there.

I am sure that, together, we will be able to work out what is wrong.

I slightly mis-spoke. You need to have a purchased L8, L9, or L10 base package. Just the free Logos Basic is not sufficient.

I was going to say I can't believe Logos would do this, but I guess I do. Taking away things people have had as part of their Logos package from the time they bought it until recently, is wrong on many levels, including ethically. I have had Logos so long that I can't even remember what package I bought...it was either Logos 3 or 4. But, come to think of it, they took away things we had within just a couple of upgrades later. Makes me wonder when they'll start taking away books we've bought. You also don't give people something for "free" and then turn around and take it back later. That used to be called an "Indian giver". I'm sorry if that seems harsh, but I'm upset and I think I have a right to be. When you purchase something, you expect to continue to be able to use the features available when you purchased it and any given to you freely thereafter.

I've just gone back to this thread and don't see anything being taken away - it looks more to me as though there was an expectation that something would work with the free version that actually required a base package.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks, Graham

Are you saying that at one point you had the ability to customize the content in the Explore section, and now you do not? If not, what precisely are you referring to when you discuss Logos taking away things that people have had as part of their Logos package?

First, yes I've always been able to customize the Explore section, at least until recently. I'm not sure when that ended, as my youngest son died December 1st, so I haven't exactly been keeping track. But I do seem to remember changing something on it as late as toward the end of last year or even this year. I know for sure I could change it last year.

Second, I wasn't speaking of something that was taken away recently, other than the ability to personalize the explore part of the home page. But over the years I've seen a number of things we've been given, later just disappear. An example would be that people had asked for more colors for both text in notes and other places. We got more colors too. Then one day they were gone. This was probably within a year or so of buying Logos 3. Then there was the ability to sort your notes by the icon you used. Like if you used a red square for some notes and a blue circle for others and a green triangle for others, and so on, if you needed to find something that you know you used a red square for, you could search and pull up just your notes with a red square. When you did that, you could also change the icon and or color you used on all of them easily. Guess I'm weird, but I did use that a lot and again one day I couldn't do it anymore. I've also had parts of books missing. Things I quoted from Faithlife Study Bible (and any number of other books) for example are no longer in it. Strange.

It's not a big deal. I'm just tired of going to do something I've done for years and suddenly finding I can't do it anymore. I'm sorry. Please continue without me. I shouldn't have brought it up.

This is the first I've heard of features being taken away from those who had access to them and pushed into newer/larger feature sets. I agree, that sounds frustrating. I'm not in a position to offer any clarity on why that would be the case, but I sympathize with your situation and see no reason why you shouldn't bring it up. I hope you're able to find some clarity regarding what has been going on and why.

So sorry to hear about your youngest son. I can't imagine how difficult that has been for you and what you must be going through.
