ATTN: MacOS12 Support Will End Soon

In version 38, support for MacOS Monterey (macOS 12) will end. This primarily impacts Macs released between 2013 and 2014. 

In alignment with Apple’s policy and our existing practice, we are only supporting the current and two previous versions of macOS. That means we will be dropping support for MacOS Monterey (macOS 12) and only supporting 13, 14, and 15. Likewise, when macOS 16 comes out next year, we will drop support for macOS 13, and support macOS 14, 15, and 16, and so on. 

There will not be any changes to our minimum Windows system requirements at this time.

    Does that mean that those who use macOS 12 will not be able to use Logos after support ends?

    No! It means that if it breaks it won't be fixed.

    In real terms it is unlikely to matter much especially if you do not upgrade to a version that requires a newer Operation System.

    I need a little clarification to know the best way to proceed when version 38 update is next.

    Eventually I'll get a newer Mac Air but not in my budget right now. The Mac Air is so compact and light to take with me. 

    I do have an older Mac Air(2017 with an Intel I7) that I use that will not update beyond macOS 12. It is the only computer that I have that runs any version of macOS. I also have Logos on a Windows 11 laptop(17 inch screen so not as easy to use in my lap as a Mac Air) so having it not work on my Mac is an inconvenience.  I already have my Program Settings for Automatically Start Downloads set to No. So if I knew that version 38 was coming in the next download, and it was going to just stop working as in scenario 3 below, I could just not download again and stay on version 37.x on my Mac as in scenario 1 below. I assume that I could use the "Update Resources" command to just get new books that I buy. 

    So, having said all of that, does this mean that if my subscription (that I already have) tries to update to version 38 someday on the Mac:

    1. It looks at the macOS version and it just won't even try to update to version 38 at all, leaving my Mac Air on version 37.x? 

    2. Or does it mean that it will update to version 38 and some features won't work and I will just have to "live with them not working" since you won't fix it? 

    3. Or will it update to version 38 and then stop working completely(i.e. just break Logos), so I have no recourse but to stop using Logos on this Mac Air until I get new hardware that supports a more current macOs? 

    I am not sure if specific previous versions of the software are available to download and "start over with 37.x", leaving it on 37.x. if this happens.

    Just trying to understand what will happen before it version 38 comes out so I can make an informed decision on whether to update anymore. 

    And yes, I understand that I can still use the web version on the Mac Air so I wouldn't completely lose the ability to use Logos on the Mac Air. Thanks.

    It is not supported by Apple, but you can update older mac's with OpenCore Legacy Patcher.

    Your model is supported. (depending on your graphics option it will run Sequoia).

    Thanks for your replies. I just reread the Minimum System Requirements and saw this:

    "Note: If your version of macOS is not supported, Logos will notify you, and the automatic update will not be installed. Once you’ve updated macOS, Logos updates will automatically resume."

    That is good and I still should be able to get new resources into my library by using Update Resources. Just no new features from 38.x and beyond.

    But if I had not posted, I would not have learned about the possibility of getting a later macOS, if I want to go that route. So thank you John for your post with links about that method. I am just a "Mac rookie". I bought the 2017 Mac Air used only a few years ago.
