Why does this simple search for Peter as an addressee not work?
I was originally looking for Jesus talking to Peter, but even this much doesn't work.
Could anyone tell me why?
thanks

The search syntax is fine so should work
Do you own the ESV Reverse Interlinear - and what Logos base package / subscription do you have?
It is working for me.
Has it worked before e.g. on another bible. Does your ESV have a Reverse Interlinear, as per the symbol framed below?:
Do you have a Feature set (e.g. Logos 10 Starter or higher), or subscription.
No, I don't have ESV reverse interlinear, but nothing in the search panel suggests I need it. I don't have the full feature set, but this is not presented as needing it.
I’m afraid you do need the reverse interlinear and, at least, the starter feature set.
This search requires this dataset - https://www.logos.com/product/54187/addressees-in-reported-speech-dataset - which is available in all of the feature sets.
And the tagging is done against original language texts which is where the requirement for the reverse interlinear comes in - that is how the translations (such as ESV) get access to the original language tagging.
And you are right there is nothing in the search panel that indicates this - it would be difficult to list all the various requirements for the entire range of searches that are possible.
Did you enter the search syntax in full yourself or did Logos generate it for you in some way?
Many thanks for your reply. I have been using logos casually for over 25 years, I have spent a lot of money on resources. But once again I find that even the basic features do not work. Very disappointing.
But once again I find that even the basic features do not work
Unfortunately, it is not a basic, simple feature. First, one must find all the text that is direct speech. Then you must read the context to figure out who is there to listen. Then you must apply your results against all the Bibles produced by Logos. For this last step, it is nearly always an interlinear that makes the data available to other texts.

You have to September 30 to get the Logos 10 Starter Features or higher (on logos.com). More importantly, if you do not want to join the new Subscription you need to buy a Feature set that will last you some more years because they will not be available to purchase after that date. And to subscribe at a discount rate you will need a Feature set.
Thank you. I am aware of that, unfortunately cost prohibits it. I am not sure that I could justify the further expense with my casual use of logos.
